Weeden's stats can easily skew ones perception of his play. 9 picks are WAY too many, but 5 picks in the other 4 is roughly the pace I had expected, as are the 5 TD's.
Give the guy a mulligan on for his first start and he's pacing out for 20 td's, 20 int's and 4k plus yards.
Not too shabby for a rookie.
Also, you have to consider the drops. Norwood and Little both dropped TD's in (especially Little) in the BAL game. A few of the picks were uncontested by the WR (Benjamin on 2 of them) and one was on a drop by Little.
Rookie QB's throw picks, and many of these picks weren't that bad IMO. |
Just a Norwood plug, he caught 9 passes on the 9 times he was targeted against the giants. |
And the week before????
Inconsistant at best. |
And yet this pretty much makes him the most dependable recever on the Browns at the moment. I like Norwood and think he has a place in the league even if he won't ever be a star. I think he is a more than adequate slot receiver, as he gets open, has good hands and catches the ball more often than not.
On top of that Weeden seem s to be developing some chemistry with him and has confidence in him which is huge. Something I do not think will happen with Little, at least not anytime soon. |
That's not much of an accomplishment at the moment. _________________

QB Brandon Weeden has thrown for 1,288 yards, the 2nd-highest total ever by a rookie through 5 games. Cam Newton had 1,610 last year
has weeden made some bad plays yes, but that was expected, the guy is still playing very well thouugh |
Unfortunately he is also ranked 33rd in QB Rating out of 33 QBs |
The first game really has screwed with his stats. If it weren't for that game, his stats would look way better. In the four games since then, he has a CMP% of 60, 1,170 yards (292.5 YPG), approximately a 7.16 AVG, 5 TDs & 5 INTs
. His QB rating would also look significantly better. |
His rating in the last 4 games would be a 78.6, which is right around what we have been getting over the last 2 years. His YPA would be a 7.0 and a 59.9 CMP%.
I don't think the coaching staff is putting him in the best situation to succeed, so I think his numbers could be a bit better in a better system. _________________ Adopt-a-Brown: Jabaal Sheard - Stats:

Don't forget that we have to be in the top 5 in dropped passes. _________________

We have also already scored 20+ points in our first 5 games twice, same number that Colt got us over the full 16 game schedule last season. _________________

That Trent Richardson guy has little effect on this offense... _________________ Adopt-a-Brown: Jabaal Sheard - Stats:

He certainly has, but he's done it against a far superior set of teams as well. _________________

I wish Weeden was younger. If he was, there would be no debate on if we should draft a QB in the draft. I like the flashes he has shown. _________________

That made me LOL for real and spit out muh cawfee ~
Candy & Dawg, couldn't agree more. Once we figure out that 40 attempts per game is way too much for a rookie QB especially when you have a TR at your disposal and put together an offense that fits Weeden better (coupled with getting him a #1 or #2 that can catch the DAMN BALL ~ Gordon being the other starter IMO) my prediction is that, a year and a half from now when we are poised for a wild-card spot in 2013 that the only thing people will be saying about his age is that we won't have him long enough.
I think the guy could turn out to be that good. |

This. If anything, most people would think he could be a steal at #22 overall since I think he would have been a top ten pick if he were a few years younger. _________________ Cleveland Browns Forum Hall of Fame Inductee

Superior to what? Bills, Ravens, Bengals? He didn't do anything against the Eagles. The Giants run D is middle of the road. I don't really know what you're trying to say, so I can't really debate it. _________________ Adopt-a-Brown: Jabaal Sheard - Stats:
