By the way, to reach the 79 mark plato, we must give up roughly 6 sacks per game the rest of the season. _________________

Six more sacks given up today...
Up 28 on the season and on pace to give up 75.
BTW, in case you missed the in game graphic, Batiste and Massey each lead in sacks allowed for offensive linemen in the NFL.
Don't have the totals, but I assume both of theirs went up after this one.
Bringing this whole team down... _________________

Jared Allen next week then the Smith duo on MNF. It might take Gruden verbally assaulting us on national tv to get everyones attention.
Trade for Long on Monday and pay the man. After the season cut Levi, Snyder & Bradley to make room financially. Draft a Guard with our 2nd round pick assuming JL goes for a 1st. Or at least do something before both our QB's get permanently battered. You can't tell me some journeyman like Clifton or McNeill are worse than D'Anthony Freaking Batiste. _________________

Plenty more realistic upgrades possible but we like the "next man up" approach which doesn't work when your OL depth is a debacle... Also, why do we keep overpaying average FA's like Colledge or Snyder? Who is running show at Cards HQ? Rod Graves?
Overhaul the offense Mikey B... _________________

I don't really care to defend the OL right now but the FACT is that only 3 of those sacks were legitimate. We try to run a draw play, Powell goes the wrong way and Kolb, who never had any intention of throwing the football, goes to the ground because there's no one running a pass route. That was called a sack yesterday. _________________

Obviously the OL is the achilles heel right now but it needs to be noted that for the second straight game we dropped 3 or more passes, missed multiple throws to wide open receivers and left yards on the field in the run game. We lost by 3 points and had by my count 2 missed throws for potential TDs by Kevin Kolb. Lost by 3 points and had a draw play that Jurecki said was going to be huge get muffed by a mis-communication. We lost by 3 points and had a screen pass to LSH in OT that Whiz HIMSELF said could have gone 80 yards to the house and we dropped it. Won't even mention the two INTs, neither of which came under heavy pressure.
The OL is the main problem, let's not mistake anything but a better OL is just the tip of this offenses iceberg. The offense as a whole is flat out dysfunctional. We can trade Batiste for Joe Thomas himself and we'd still have serious, serious problems. _________________

I agree with three sacks on the online, but the fact of the matter is this was and is the worst defense in football. Three sacks against a team that can rush the QB is pretty inexcusable.
It will only get worse. _________________

Mario was gonna break out soon enough. He's too talented not to. He had 2 of those sacks. 2 sacks for Mario and 3 overall is pretty much what I expected out of this OL. I'm not saying it's good but for our personnel, I think inexcusable a little far fetched. _________________

I agree that the line is not the only area to blame. The entire offense really was struggling. I thought a huge moment in the game occured right after Maui'a caught a pass and fought for 7 yards, just to spike to the ball and get a penalty. Whenever momentum was on our side and we had a chance to make a play, we did not. Another example was coming up with just 3 points after getting the ball on the Bills' side of the field early in the 1st. 14 yards of offense in the first quarter is also atrocious. _________________

I'm not going to even halfway attempt to defend this OL but simply adding a tackle or a guard won't fix what ails us. Regardless of who we've got up front, our QBs are still inaccurate, our RBs will still make mistakes (If they're healthy...), our pass catchers will still drop well thrown balls at crucial times.
4 major problems areas. Fixing the OL is a start but at the end of the day, it's just 25% of what we're doing wrong. That still leaves the other 75... _________________

Week 1 Seattle: 1 sack
Week 2 New England: 2 sacks
Week 3 Philadelphia: 3 sacks
Week 4 Miami: 8 sacks
Week 5 St Louis: 9 sacks
Week 6 Buffalo: 5 sacks
Week 7 Minnesota: 7 sacks
Tota = 35 sacks
On pace for 80 sacks ((16 games x 35 sacks) / 7 games)
Batiste looked good against Jared Allen all things considered. One of Allen's two sacks for the game came on a Skelton scramble. I don't know how he managed to look good against him while struggling against everyone else, but I will take it.
The outlook for the season is not optimistic. Snyder was hurt in the game today and we don't know what Ohrnberger has to offer and the team will activate someone if Snyder cannot play next week against the 49ers. Kelemete time? _________________
