Time to see who's better, the guys they kept, or the guys they let go.
Keys:
-Brees is going for it, force him to make a bad throw trying for a TD
-Watch the personnel in the backfield. You know what they're going to do by who lines up at RB
-Don't let their record fool you
-Attack the secondary _________________

I had no idea Greg Camarillo was on the Saints. Did they pick up Merriman, Castillo, and McNeill too?
Great drive by Rivers. Passing attack was at its best all year on that drive. |

Remember the rumor that we were going to trade Merriman to the Saints? I wish that had happened now. _________________

If Ryan Mathews got the bad attention he did for his fumble in a blowout loss, imagine the reaction if the Chargers lose this game because of Ingram's penalty. The game would have been basically over if he had hit him in the chest. |

Ingram always comes up with dumb penalties....
This game was a back breaker, the offense was really struggling in the 2nd half, and our defense still managed to keep it close... but the refs and our ineptitude on offense killed us. |

And BTW, what the heck was that, not punching it in on the 1 yard line....
That was atrocious! |

Thoughts:
Jammer should not be covering the fastest guy on the field, unless he's bumping him. It's still sketchy then.
Cason should not be tasked with covering anybody.
How has Gilchirst regressed so far? He started off great, and seems to have started losing it when he had a bad first start.
I hope to God this was a wakeup call for the FO/coaches that they need a serious upgrade at OT. Starting and depth.
Even if Gaither left the game, Clary would have allowed a sack on the last play.
Is there a player worse than Clary?
If there's a good CB or OT on the trade block, I'm ok with mortgaging next year's draft to get something better.
Glad to see Meachem and Rivers get something going. Hopefully they can keep it going.
Mathews terrifies me every time he runs the ball. The guy has a ton of ability, but it will all be for nothing if he doesn't figure out how to cover the ball. _________________

We need Wright in the worst kind of way. _________________

I don't really see him helping much. He was basically redshirted last year, and still was making rookie mistakes in preseason. He was definitely improving, but I doubt he's more than a 3rd CB. _________________

Rotoworld wrote: | Chargers RE Corey Liuget suffered a knee injury in Sunday's loss to the Saints.
It's unclear when Liuget went down, but he was having a monster night before departing, notching a sack while batting down two passes at the line of scrimmage. His status should be updated Monday. |
I didn't hear anything about this during, or after, the game. Hope it's not anything that will keep him out long.
Rotoworld wrote: | Chargers LT Jared Gaither suffered a groin injury in San Diego's Week 5 loss to the Saints.
Gaither never came out of the game, but he should have. Almost completely incapable of moving, he let Martez Wilson go right around him on what proved to be a game-ending strip sack of Philip Rivers with 0:14 remaining. Gaither played well before getting nicked, but this is a reminder that he's still far from top football shape after missing over two months of practice with a back injury. He should be considered day-to-day, and questionable for Week 6. |
At least it wasn't his back. _________________

Initial report on Gaither is a strained groin that will sideline him for 3-5 years. |
