Two questions: Why would we aim to re-sign Craig Dahl? And what kind of playing time is Quick getting in this scenario? |
Quick would compete with Amendola and the others to get on the field. Allen would too. Just assuming Allen would win out the #1 job. Amendola might end up as the #3. Who knows.
Why re-sign Craig Dahl? He's depth. As much as I hate him as a starter, he's a good STer, a good locker-room player and a serviceable backup.
If he ends up getting outplayed by McLeod or Daniels, you can just cut him. _________________

The problem with having him as a backup is that if an injury or suspension occurs, he becomes a starter. I don't think he belongs on an NFL roster. _________________

Yea, he becomes the starter. And while he's not a good starter, when he's at SS, he's a solid enough player. He becomes a major liability at FS. Which is why I drafted Swearinger.
I mean, you can do a whole lot worse than Craig Dahl if you have an injury. The guy isn't someone you want starting but if you have an injury to your SS, he can step in and give you solid enough play.
Dahl ticks me off but he's not a terrible player. Just not a good one. I don't mind him as a backup SS. Just keep him from being the FS because he's not comfortable as a deep safety. _________________

Why on earth would we want to bring back Craig Dahl ? We will continue
To up grade the secondary and Dahl isn't part of it. |

Well Dahl isn't starting..
I don't like Dahl either, but if he isn't starting I'm fine with it. _________________

missed that stud. | Did you mean Floyd?
And you can't really say anything two games into Brockes' career. _________________ PSN: Suavesky

I don't like the way Dahl plays. It is hard to vividly describe, but he comes across as "soft" to me. He's always the last guy to get in on a tackle, and he occasionally dramatizes his involvement in said play. He doesn't seem to ever be in the position to actually make a play.
I suppose you're right that he isn't the worst bench guy you could have. I guess he's one I'd just rather move away from. _________________

Like I said, we'd obviously bring in a UDFA SS or two and Daniels/McLeod would compete with him. If he loses out, you cut him. No harm no foul. _________________

Before his injury, he was one of the NFL's leading WRs in both yards and receptions. We could certainly do worse than DA. And DA would compete with Quick and Givens. I'm just giving him the BOTD right now since neither have shown enough yet to unseat him. _________________
