Yep the WR class in the 1st round is weak compared to what we would like in terms of our "ideal" WR need.

I agree that for Woods, a possible best case scenario is a Percy Harvin, and we dont need another Percy Harvin WR. The only WR we should be considering in the 1st/2nd round is a big down field threat.

Other then "polished" Keenan Allen & Justin Hunter in the 1st, I would avoid this position

In the 2nd, I would explore selecting big bodies/down field threats with "potential to grow to #1 WR" (preferably well tested WRs from defensive power conferences)

Maybe Bowe wouldnt be such a bad idea after all, given the apparent lack for a big, downfield threat in the the first round. I mean, if the price is right, its certainly should be explored. Then again, if Simpson and Harvin both get big money extensions, it may not be a great idea to spend a significant amount of free agent money on a another WR.

Obviously using free agency to upgrade a part of the team would provide more flexibility on draft day, especially if the team can focus on adding more youth and talent to the defense.

Nothing about Woods really impresses me. He seems to be a less athletic Percy Harvin. His main asset is catching short passes and running, but he doesn't have the same explosion that Percy does.

I don't think he would be a very good fit for this team, in terms of what type of WR they need to add.

I'm a USC fan & if they tok Woods in the 1st I wouldn't be too happy.

If you had to chose between Te'o and Greenway, Te'o would win every time. Watch him play this year. Early on I considered him a 3-4 inside thumper. Watching him in coverage this year he is everywhere on the field. I was high on Keuchly last year, and higher on Te'o this year.

I think this is an unfair direct comparison.
Are you comparing prime Greenway to prime Te'o?
Current/Future Greenway to current/future Teo.

Its not like if we drafted Te'o, he would be replacing Greenway now anyway.

That's not what I was getting at. Right now Greenway is our only 3 down LB, and he's not a great nickel LB at that. Te'o would immediately be the best LB on the team and improve the defense in many ways. We shouldn't be talking about getting by in an area that we have been gashed for years if the solution to that problem is drafting a high impact LB like Te'o. This guy to me has the potential for a Willis type impact on this team.

Not a fan either (of Woods that is). If you are going to use a 1st round pick on a wide reciever, get one with an elite H-W-S package.

If next years draft started like this; excellent job Rick. I am probably higher on Vaccaro than most, but this guy is versatile and can do multiple things, a lot like Harrison, and I would be excited to get him in the second round.
I think Da'Rick goes in the second, like Janoris Jenkins of last year. The kid is extremely talented, the question is, which coach will take a chance on him and be able to keep him out of trouble? So far, Fisher is doing a good job and looking like a genius with the Jenkins pick.
