Signing every good player rarely works out with the cap. |
We are not talking about a free agent binge we are keeping our good young players.
We can probably resign all of them for what Urlacher is making this year.
I have no doubts that Emery will set a budget and stick to it. _________________

Robbie Gould is also a free agent in 2014 and while he isn't going to be pricey he will be expensive compared to a good amount of other kickers to keep. _________________

| Quote: | Defensive tackle Henry Melton might be rewarded for his strong play sooner rather than later.
The Bears and Melton's agent, Jordan Woy, have had "a little chatter'' about a new contract, Melton said. Nothing is imminent, but Melton remains optimistic about landing a deal before season's end. The former fourth-round draft pick out of Texas is in the final year of his rookie contract. He has a 2012 base salary of $565,000. |

That is good news, but I really feel that every game we wait and every sack he puts up is costing us money in the long run. _________________

Massive…sometimes we get caught up in the “UT” tag…but any team who play a 4-3 D would love to have a DT as talented as Melton…with his athleticism there would be plenty of teams who would view him as a 3-4 5 tech as well…if he hits the open market in a relatively weak free agent group he will get money thrown at him from a number of directions…as the article says he has made it clear he wants to stay in Chicago because our scheme is a perfect fit for him and he only has too look at Amobi Okoye to see that the grass isn’t always greener…I think we will resign him but it will take time because it wouldn’t make sense for him to take a lowball offer to stay with us when he could push up his price using the open market. |

Melton needs to get locked up and locked up soon. If he doesn't make the pro bowl this year it is complete robbery. _________________
