Wow.... just an intelligent and well put together post. So glad you keep making posts.
Spencer is old and sucks? He was the best CB through 2 games before injury.
Tollefson has never been known as a pass rusher.
"Guys who need show their worth rather sometime rather soon:"
Bergstrom, Crawford, Ross - They are developmental players. Bergstrom is the backup T/G and supplanted Barksdale already.
Oh.... and I see your Carson Palmer hate is at an all time moronic. _________________

Guys who need to be gone:
Seymour, Kelly, Huff - all guys who absolutely make way too much for what they do which is very little.
Mitchell - of no use, no impact, no need to give him a 2nd contract.
McClain - never showed up as the guy we need in the middle, and probably won't ever.
Carlisle - gotta get a premier guard in his place. Not just replacement, but upgrade.
Barnes - no difference between him and Smith so start Smith or sign a better one.
Branch at the franchise price is way too expensive, he's good against the run but a mess in coverage.. Either sign cheaper or say goodbye.
Goethel - better depth would be nice, he's never shown anything worth keeping.
Schmitt - gotta upgrade to a legit blocker, he's not what he was cracked up to be at all.
Curry - knee problems, if he cannot recover his career is likely done.
Needless to say most of our CBs need to go, but that's because they're desperation players in the first place.
The rest who underperform can fight for a job, but they really don't matter as they don't suck up money on the roster and aren't key cogs at all.
Lechler is a luxury, but until that 4 mil really matters you gotta keep him. Brisiel makes 4 mil as an average FA guard. It's not that much money these days. |

Branch signed a long term deal already.
The rest I agree with for the most part. I'm worries about McClain however. When he's cut, I can only imagine it will take him a long time to get out of town. _________________

Smith is way worse than Barnes. Don't get why people blamed Barnes for Briesel's garbage blocking. Not saying Barnes should start but he's better as a backup than Smith.
I suggested that Kelly be traded in the offseason and people thought it was a dumb idea because he had a couple sacks in preseason. Now the guy gets stood up by Olineman with ease.
Agree about Branch. Been talking about him getting smoked in coverage for the past two seasons. _________________

I don't know that Smith is way worse, especially since the results are the same. Might as well go with a younger guy who may improve if the play on the field doesn't show marked differences..
I don't know how Smith can be way worse. Barnes may run block better in other systems we no longer play, but everyone here has been watching him false start at the worst times and get beat by every better than average pass rusher he faces. There's pressure from the right side either way. Smith has excuses and a possible future, Barnes doesn't.
Forgot Branch signed. Ughh. I am not impressed with this guy at all. I can't blame the regime though. They signed him based on last year's evaluations, and he was better last year. They couldn't cut everyone... |

Yes, it sure was this past offseason.
But I think most of it can happen next year, and we really wouldn't get worse from it. The key, and hope, is getting better. But we'll damn sure be cheaper. |

We've 6 draft picks is it? Expecting us to shed 8-9 starters and replace them with 6 draft picks, especially when 5 of them are 3rd round or worse, and free agents is pretty unlikely. _________________

If we have 40 mil in cap room it's doable. And 40 mil is doable, without dead money from this year and impending cuts next year.
Now it's totally unlikely to expect this to yield a great or even a good team, just because such turnover will take time to mesh even if you hit on every pick and pickup, which won't happen. But since we suck horribly anyway, why not take the rebuild to the nth degree ASAP i.e. ripping off a bandaid..
If we spread the turnover into 2 offseasons, it will really only guarantee lengthening the process. |

They know he isn't a CB, but we are so thin at CB that he is sadly the best option at CB right now. They figure it was better to have Huff at CB and Gio at FS than Huff at FS and Phillip Adams or Francies at CB. _________________

Simply replacing crap players with other crap players won't make any difference though. There is definitely a large number of players who can go but not sure everyone people want gone will be out of here. I hope not either. Some players should be given the chance to play in a team with good players. _________________
