I always hear we have the most dead money in NFL, but I can't find a site that breaks it down.. We will dead money clear up soon? So we can potentially add a couple impact starters for our o line and defense |

Routt and Wimbley for sure. Not sure they ever released the numbers. _________________

I thought by releasing Wimbley, we took a hit this year, but saved 19 million in the long run? |

You don't have dead money trading a player. The other team picks their contract up. _________________

I'm pretty sure their signing bonuses are still counting against our cap. _________________

According to Sportstac.com the Raiders were left on the hook for $20,225,000 of dead money which counts against the salary-cap. |

If the right guys are cut, we could conceivably have 50 mil under the cap next year and not be a worse team at all. |

I'd like to see the math on this. _________________

No math, just assumptions.
20 mil dead money, bye bye to Huff, Seymour, Kelly and a couple others. Boom 50 mil. Seymour and Kelly cap numbers add to like 25 mil do they not, 15 and 10? Huff ain't cheap either.
Maybe those guys carry some dead money so it wouldn't be quite that much. |

Yeah, they do. Also have to take into account a few players (Palmer and Branch come to mind) whose base salary goes from vet minimum to huge which will eat even more of the cap unless something is done about that. _________________

Yeah, but we also don't know who is carrying a big bonus this year and not the next - guys who are the opposite of what you mentioned.
All in all, whether it's 35 mil or 60 mil, it can be a large chunk if the right guys are dumped off.
And in the same vein, another large chunk can be available the year after with the loss of more dead money from guys like Kelly, Seymour, etc..
2 possible years in a row of active free agency. Hope the scouting department has it together. |
