Can we just review the 2012 browns draft class and give Tom Heckert an Atta-boy slap and a beer... It's early but so far so good.
Richardson (starter)
Weeden (starter)
Schwartz (starter)
Hughes (starter)
Benjamin (significant playing time)
Johnson (jury's out, but was supposed to start for Lococong)
Miller (meh)
Winn (Win)
Wade (significant playing time)
Smelley (meh)
Fort (udfa significant playing time)
Robertson (udfa significant playing time)
Gordon (gifted but jurys out)
Now I realize that these guys are playing b/c we have no one else but I think the reviews thus far a positive. We arent sitting here with David Veikune and Beau Bell _________________

Unfortunately the success or failure of this draft ultimately depends almost entirely on Brandon Weeden, or at least does in the eyes of the public (and possibly Haslam). And while it's great that we're filling so many holes... there's a reason QB is the most important position on the field. _________________

I see what you're saying but I don't completely agree. If Weeden turns out to be a bust, then this draft likely won't be considered great even if Cleveland's other draft picks end up having good careers in Cleveland. However, if the other picks do turn out well, then I don't think the draft is an overall failure even if Weeden busts.
For example, would you consider the 2003 first round for the Ravens to be a failure? They drafted Kyle Boller who was a big bust. However, they also ended up with Terrell Suggs. I don't think you can consider that draft to be a big failure when they ended up with a player of Suggs' caliber. _________________ Cleveland Browns Forum Hall of Fame Inductee |

If Weedon busts then the Browns will be drafting Barkley...
(yuck I know)
If so many of the other players from last years draft do continue to play good and develop I dont think Weedon will be the make or break that group, like it would in a typical year. |

I dont know. If we are sitting at one, I'd expect Geno Smith. More exciting player, bigger play maker, makes up a bit for the loss on RG3 _________________

I doubt it. Even if Weeden struggles the rest of the season, it'd be stupid to call him a bust so soon. Besides, he's played well the past few weeks and has only had one really bad game.
The only way I could see the Browns possibly drafting another quarterback so high is if a new regime is brought in. If the Browns do draft a quarterback in the first round, I want it to be Geno Smith. _________________ Cleveland Browns Forum Hall of Fame Inductee |

Ya I want nothing to do with Barkley. I don't see him being much better than Sanchez or Leinart. Marques Lee on the other hand...WANT. That kid is going to be a better desean jackson at the next level. I think Robert Woods will be solid too but I question his ability to consistently get separation against the more athletic DBs in the NFL. He has Kenny Britt/Hakeem Nicks potential though. _________________

He defiantly could be......I wonder what made him slide down the board so far.....pre-season last year Winn was rated as one of the top 4 DT's coming out last year??? Then seems like as the draft got closer, he fell off a cliff????
I for one......AM NOT MAD....getting Starting DT, who have potential to dominate (yes I said it....I've seen streaks in each of the past 2 games where Winn has a couple of series where he takes over the Dline and starts tackling RB's on screens, knocking down 3 pass on one series, including 2 in a row on 2nd and 3rd downs).......in the 6th round......
Thats why I no longer get pissed when Heckert decides to trade a future 2nd for help now......if this Cat is finding starting DT's and what (from the perseason and so far) look like 2nd startering CB's/Nickle backs in rounds 5 and 7.......you can do whatever you want to do IMO. _________________ -A team is built through the Draft.
