I don't think anyone has argued that McDaniels isn't capable of calling successful offense. What people don't like is that he seems detached from reality on the field, and sticks to things that aren't working or changes things that are. _________________

I'd probably go as far as to say I don't believe the Patriots can actually win the Superbowl with McDaniels calling the plays. I've got zero faith in him. Probably doesn't count for much but he's too all over the place. _________________ Yo, is that time machine done yet? |

I can understand not challenging it, even though the spot was atrocious, because the value of a challenge and timeout are worth more than the first down in that situation, and spot challenges rarely succeed. What I don't understand is why they didn't go for it. A Brady sneak easily picks that up. | If it had been the 2nd half I'd agree with you. _________________

Despite Ninkovich's decent performance yesterday, anyone else think that the Patriots could be in prime position to go for another DE in the first round next year? The name that jumps out to me is Oregon DE/OLB/he can also press WRs Dion Jordan. 6 foot 7, 243 pounds. Might be a little small for BB but you know he has to love that frame and length.
Maybe will be a Dunlap type we pass on, who knows. He just strikes me as a guy who would fit this defense. |
And I hope we take Jonathan Hankins. Love that big boy. |

With the amount of offensive talent this team has, they damn well better be ranked that high. McDaniels isn't helping their cause. At best, he's not consistently standing in their way. _________________

I think a lot goes into McDaniels calling the plays but at the end of the day Bill is the one okaying it and is allowing for it to go through. If he didn't like the play call he would get Josh or Tommy to change it. Too much blame is being placed on Josh and not enough on the players for not being able to execute.
Sometimes he gets fancy (Superbowl 41 with the end around to start the game) but he is getting his groove back with a lot of these players.
When Josh puts another ring on Tommys finger I am going to be happy for the both of them. I give Josh crap just as much as anyone but man this weekend should have been vindication for him and more of a finger pointing at the players.
We have had such an influx of youth recently that no one really recognizes it and brushes it off. Tons of younger players learning Bill and the Patriots way. Its not easy and were having tons of transition all over the place still right now. From LT, RB, G, C, WR, DE, LB, S I mean hell a lot of young players coming in and learning.
Also we do need another DE next year. Whether thats from the draft or FA. I still want Carter back so he can push Nink to a sub type role and both of them split until something else happens.
This is probably the best 2-2 Patriots team in some time. I love this squad and their potential. _________________

Bolden made a lot but probably not most of those holes he got. | I'm glad they're working both of them into the mix. Both are young guys and if you overuse either of them early in the season, they'll be much more likely to wear down as we get to Dec/Jan, when the team will really need them. _________________
