Nice.
Carter and So'oto for the future. Hopefully now we can get our pass rush going. |

Can't say I dislike the move. Hoping we signed Carter because he's healed and effective rather than we're that desperate for pass rushing help. _________________

Exactly. Asomugha couldn't stick with anyone behind this DL. _________________ 2013 Mancrush: DT Richardson, OT Joeckel, FS Vaccaro, FS Rambo, WR Dobson, RB Michael, TE McDonald, OT Foketi, WR Swope |

We're desperate, but not that desperate. RM is smarter than that, I hope.
I don't think we'd sign him after bringing him in for workouts 2 separate times to check his health. He says he's healthy & has been since the first time we brought him in - we just needed more time to sort things out.
I like the signing though. At the very least, it's better than having an inactive Barksdale every game. _________________

Desperate for pass rush, so this make sense. I like that the Raiders gave him 2 different workouts thus far.
End of the day, it's low risk high reward signing. Barksdale was roster garbage and Carter adds a much need element to the defense if healthy. _________________

That's the move we were waiting for. Finally some help off the edge.
Glad we've gotten rid of useless garbage like Barksdale and Campbell. _________________

| This is a good move, but I was rather hoping for a band aid for the secondary. |

There isn't anyone out there to act as a bandaid for the secondary that I see. Ross was brought in. Hopefully he can get up to speed and make some plays for the team. _________________

Carter was a beast in 2010, when he played DE and NE played a 4-3. In 2011 they switched to a 3-4, and he played much like Wimbley did here IIRC, mostly as a pass rushing OLB. He wasn't as effective, most say. However his effectiveness against the run went way up, much better than his 2010 campaign (which wasn't that great)
That being said... according to PFF, through 14 games he had 11 sacks, 16 QB hits, 24 hurries and 51 total 'disruptions'. Then he got injured and was out for the rest of the year. I'm really surprised nobody picked him up. There must be something there we don't know about, whether it be age and/or a combination of his injury lagging. Bringing him in paired with Seymour is going to get their motors going I would hope. All we can do is hope he returns to last years form and watch him play. _________________ Bah-Weep-Granah-Weep-Nini-Bong

Huh? Carter was with the Redskins in 2010, not the Patriots... and yes he struggled in their 3-4 system as OLB after a very strong 11 sack 2009 season as a DE.
He played DE for the Patriots in 2011 and despite a slow start, was able to finish with 10 sacks in 14 games. _________________

Ahhh, my bad. I read that he went through a scheme switch from 2010 to 2011, I thought he was with NE for those 2 years, not just one. Makes more sense though. _________________ Bah-Weep-Granah-Weep-Nini-Bong
