Real life Pedro Cerrano? |
Oliver Perez = Wild Thing? |
Wild thing was a righty, and threw 100 MPH

With 5 games left and 3 games out of the protected picks, there is little chance we'll be in the top 10 and get a protected pick.
So how much can we not give to a player to not give up our first round pick? _________________

I'd rather sign more low end guys then give up pick 11/12. While I think the Mariners are trending up, we're not close enough to be giving up high draft picks for free agents. Test the trade market, or sign players to low risk/high reward deals. (Melky Cabrera?)
The Pirates comp pick counting towards the 10 protected picks makes no sense to me at all. Should be the 10 worst teams that get their picks protected. _________________

Are you sure that they do? I assumed it was just a mistake by MLBTR. |

Doesn't seem like a mistake. They said that the MLB confirmed it.
So either the Mets/Mariners are getting screwed out of the option of signing a type A & having a first round pick. _________________

As it stands now, both teams are getting screwed. The Royals have the 10th pick. |

Right, that's what I meant to say.
Anyways, I can't believe teams can get screwed because of another teams failure to sign their pick... _________________

Quote: | Assistant editor Conor Glassey sorted of the players in our ongoing minor league Top 20 Prospects series by their current organization. There were 289 unique players (31 guys appeared on multiple lists), and here's how they break down by team:
14 Cardinals, Mariners, Padres, Pirates, Red Sox
13 Blue Jays, Cubs, Rangers, Rays
12 Mets, Rockies, Royals
11 Braves, Reds
10 Astros, Diamondbacks
9 Athletics, Phillies
8 Indians, Marlins, Tigers
7 Twins
6 White Sox
5 Angels, Brewers, Dodgers, Giants, Nationals, Yankees
4 Orioles
That chart correlates well with organization depth in most cases, though bear in mind that no distinction is draw between prospects in Triple-A vs. Rookie ball. I haven't tried to think through updated farm-system rankings—that's a project for the 2013 Prospect Handbook in December—but off the top of my head, the Rangers and Blue Jays would top that list. |

Boss.
No clue what the RedSox are doing up there, though. They're not deep at all. _________________

I'm not surprised the Mets are up there. Even without Matt Harvey, the pitching depth is crazy good.
I'm pretty surprised that there are so many teams that have more prospects than Toronto. |

New fences. http://atmlb.com/SZWYoq
Sorry if that's the mobile only link, but the power alley in LF is being moved in by 17 feet, while most other areas are only 4 feet.
Definitely seeing a trade of Vargas now. _________________

Bout time. Though the changes don't seem to be too dramatic.
Agreed on Vargas. Not starting half his games in a park that kills RH power is definitely going to hurt is effectiveness. If a team doesn't want him I think a non-tender makes sense as well. He's not worth 7-8+ million a year. If he's willing to sign an extension in the 3/18-20 million range I'd sign him, but if he wants to be paid like a #3 starter he shouldn't be here much longer. _________________
