Another rookie defensive back under the spotlight Friday will be cornerback Josh Robinson, whose development seems to be coming quickly through the preseason. Robinson drew praise once again for his burst and recovery speed during last week’s preseason win over Buffalo. And with Chris Cook sitting this Friday’s game out with a concussion, Robinson should get a more extensive look with the first team defense in nickel packages. Robinson understands the Vikings view him as a future starter. And the future could come soon if his progress continues.
Robinson: “I feel like I’ve made strides in cleaning up my technique and paying attention to doing all the little things right. I’m really focused on making sure not to make mental errors.”

comes up with the Vikings' first INT in what seems like 10 years. of course, it was thrown more to him than the receiver.
but then, SF cb's had their chances too today.
kid showed good balance on the runback too. _________________

I see a promising career for Josh Robinson.
Next week he'll have his hands full though. _________________

He won't cover Tron, Cook will.
And I'm not scared of anyone named Titus. _________________

Actually, Titus Young is a pretty dangerous receiver. Though he's maddeningly inconsistent, he has excellent speed and athleticism. I consider him Desean Jackson Lite. _________________

But they move him around so much. Last year I remember Cedric Griffin attempting to cover Calvin Johnson.
If he's ever put in that situation, he better be ready. _________________

During the first match-up Chris Cook was Optimus Prime to Calvin's Megatron, save the jump ball TD. Interested to see how round 2 goes. _________________

Unsung hero of the game. I was just complaining about how he wasn't really running down the field on the kickoff, only for him to chase down Williams, making him slow down and cutback before getting tackled. Saved Touchdown.
He did the same thing on the punt return, chasing Williams out of bounds.
And then he had an interception. Great game rook! _________________

The best way to characterize Josh Robinson at Central Florida was playmaker. He doesn't have elite ball skills at this point, but he's consistently in position and locates/tracks the football in-flight very well. Blessed with great straight line speed he has the ability to recover when beaten, which will be invaluable to him as a young DB. He compares quite well to a player like Mike Jenkins of the Cowboys, which is by no means a bad thing - Jenkins is a former Pro Bowl player who entered the league with a significant pedigree. _________________

He seems to be very physical for his size. I wonder if Antoine is rubbing off on the young guy. _________________

Robinson is listed at 199 pounds. Pretty solid for someone who is 5-10. |

I swear his helmet looks 2 sizes too big. It is like watching a peewee football league kid. _________________

For one of the few times in his 14-year career, cornerback Antoine Winfield didn't start when he was healthy. Rookie Josh Robinson started in the base defense. Winfield came on in the nickel and still saw considerable snaps the rest of the game. Winfield said it wasn't because of a swollen knee.
Winfield: "Joe Woods came to me this week and said they're going to try to roll Josh in some more and try to get him some experience. I'm cool with that. I've started 14 years in this league. I'm not worried about that. It helps me."
