No - he's just a first time offender and the price is already preset... _________________

That was in no way a legal hit, he blindsided the defender and thrusted his body upward leading with his damn helmet. I said this when it happened and this was just a god awful call. If there was a video you could put on, on how not to hit a player across the middle, this would be it. If he would have just kept his shoulders forward and not stopped, planted his feet, and thrusted upwards with his head then it would be legal, but the fact he did not was clearly illegal and he should have been fined more then this or suspended. _________________ Future Starting Safety for the Cowboys

or just kicked out of the league entirely, and be banished from any AFL team or CFL team, and if he has any kids they will be banned from any football activities also.... Does that sound as outrageous and completely out of line as you saying he should be suspended for this hit?, give me a break waremd. _________________ Adopt-a-Hawk

Had the roles been reversed i wouldn't of been complaining this is football it's physical this isn't flag football Tate can't just stop and think how he is going to block somebody.

True but that's probably a whole pay check for him being a 2nd round pick. _________________

Pretty close, here's the details of Tate's contract from Rotoworld.com.
| Tate's contract details wrote: | | 7/28/2010: Signed a four-year, $3,261,500 contract. The deal contains $1.471 million guaranteed, including a $1 million signing bonus. 2012: $540,000, 2013: $575,000, 2014: Free Agent |
If you divide the $540,000. by 16 games that comes out to a game check of $33,750., so that fine cost Tate 2/3 of his game check, Ouch! _________________ Adopt-a-Hawk

This kinda play has happened to the Seahawks. Jon Ryan got blasted against the Bears not really even close to the play and there was no suspension or fine, and none of us complained about it. We just laughed and said Ryan got nailed.
You'd think Sean Lee was the son of some of these posters _________________

I guess Tate should of yelled"Heads up 7 up!" before attempting to block Lee. _________________

You don't see a big deal when Sidney Rice took a helmet to helmet on the field wheres the all powerful Goodell to fine that player?!
I could care less to be honest but if your going to fine Golden Tate for a great block then you sure as heck better fine a guy going for someones head. _________________

Oh hell yeah it was a great hit, knocked Lee right off his feet. It was just, but rule, illegal. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

That hit was shoulder to shoulder. There was nothing remotely illegal about that hit even though it was against a defenseless player. _________________ Shut up, NBT |

What was wrong with Tates hit again? I didn't know you could be blind sided from a player you were covering like 4 feet away from you and even though Tate went Parallel he got right in front of him before making the hit.
Tate never came from behind or from the side to hit him. _________________

That was an amazing block by Tate. Partly Lee's fault for not being aware and looking up field.
Tate didn't really make helmet to helmet contact until his head whipped and hit Tate's. |

The rules say nothing about from what direction the hit comes from. The word they use is "approach." Had Tate "approached" Lee from the front, then it would have been fine, but he didn't.
I'm just going to keep referring people to this:

First of all that is done by a Dallas guy so he is going to be biased secondly Tate went Parallel got in front of him and destroyed him not Tates fault Lee isn't looking straight.
Not Defenseless or blind sided at all Tate was in front of him. _________________
