Summary
Last week Buffalo simply did not look prepared. Chan Gailey was outcoached before the game even started. The Bills were beat in all phases of the game, even special teams. Perhaps Buffalo was too focused on stopping Tim Tebow, which was something they actually did well against last week. The problem is Tebow only touched the ball five times. The Bills are now 2-11 against divisional opponents under Gailey. The defense was awful all around against the Jets. There was zero pass rush and young cornerbacks Stephon Gilmore and Aaron Williams were burned consistently throughout the game. The defense needs to get its act together and Mario Williams needs to stop making excuses. The highest paid defensive player in NFL history had just one tackle last week and his blaming of the replacement refs was unjustified. There are no excuses for giving up 48 points. The Bills run defense was one minor bright spot, as they didn’t let the Jets run all over them. Dave Wannstedt certainly has a lot of work to do this week. Any improvement at all will be welcome.
Meanwhile Fitzpatrick’s plan to cut down on turnovers didn’t work out so well. He was off target all day and threw three interceptions. Fitzpatrick has had a problem with consistency throughout his career. Hopefully he will settle down this week. The running game on the other hand was outstanding. C.J. Spiller had 169 yards on 14 carries and accounted for half of the Buffalo offense. He looked real good last week and should do well while Fred Jackson recovers from a knee injury. Jackson could be out anywhere from three to eight weeks. Slot receiver David Nelson’s knee injury unfortunately landed him on the injured reserve. Donald Jones is likely to shift to the slot and rookie T.J. Graham will be on the outside opposite of Steve Johnson. Ruvell Martin is the only other receiver on the active roster. The next two games are must wins for Buffalo (Kansas City and Cleveland)... the two games after that are New England and San Francisco. Realistically, the best the Bills can hope for is a 2-3 start.
The first week left a bitter taste in the mouths of many fans, but let’s move on to the home opener. Week one is over and we still have sixteen to go. Let's be loud this week at the Ralph! It’s time to win! _________________

I feel like this is a must win for Buffalo. We need to score fast and often to take the wind out of Kansas City's sails.

I kinda wish Buffalo would go after Kellen Winslow, we could surely use him, he is a mis match nightmare. _________________

Our defense needs a much better performance and we can not allow nearly as many turnovers. _________________

I wouldn't hold out much hope for philosophy change. Wanny's not an aggressive play caller, he never has been anyway. |

Is Dareus playing vs us this week or is he out too due to the family stuff? _________________

Add CB's to the list, too! It's one thing to blame our poor pass D on the lack of a pass rush, but if you watched the game closely, the Jets receivers were getting open (or getting too big a cushion) immediately after the snap. That's on the CB's, not the DL. _________________

I for one feel like our Defense is going to come out and play like we expected to see in week one. I think the Bills as a whole were overwhelmed last week. They got knocked down quick and never really got back up. Now it's our turn for a home opener and I expect us to look much better as a whole. _________________
