JSOnline posed a serious question.

Should the Packers consider moving Greg Jennings if they don't think they can sign him to a long term contract before he reaches free agency? If so, what should our asking price be? _________________

Miami sure needs a #1 WR.
Don't think I'd deal him, and in todays game, nobody gives up too much for players that aren't signed long-term. _________________

i'd deal him for "Brandon Marshall value" or for picks and a quality Safety. _________________

I don't think we make a trade. Honestly getting this season out of him, trying to work out a contract, tag and trade if it doesn't go through seems more attractive to me than just trading him right away
When was the last time we traded a solid piece during the season?

The "when was the last time" tactic doesn't really apply. When was the last time the Packers were in this exact situation? Well the answer is never.
I love Greg, but his contract demands seem prohibitive. For the right deal, I would absolutely trade him. That said, trading a star player on a contending team for no immediate help probably isn't good for your team moral at all. So when you consider the situational implications, and the fact that a tag and trade is a viable option as well, the in-season offer would have to be pretty extraordinary to warrant consideration.
If he has a good season and is tagged, he could probably field a late 2nd. In order for them to trade him now, it would probably have to be a first.
So basically, I think for a 1st rounder, yes. Otherwise, probably not. |

Yea little to no chance we trade him during the season. I'd love to see us tag and trade him for a 2nd and 3rd at the end if the two sides can't work something out though.
These reports seem bogus. Probably just Packer guys leaking stuff to scare Jennings into signing on the cheap so he doesn't have to go to Miami or St. Louis. _________________

Only way we trade him is if we roll into the trade deadline rocking a really awful win-loss ratio.
I don't see that happening...so I think he's worth 1 round of draft picks to give us a chance at a SB ring. Because if we don't tag him (slim chance), we'll get a 3rd round comp pick out of him. I don't think a team gives up a first for him (age, injury issues, need to give him a big $$ deal), so a 2 is most likely the best we can get for him. _________________

| Good luck trading him. No team is that anxious to lose a 6th round pick. |

Consider trading him? Absolutely.
Will they likely get it done? No, but it does make sense if we can get enough loot.
If nothing else I hope we can at least tag and trade him. That also may not work as well as one might think. |

Only thing that would bug me about it is our WR corps next year. You trade Jennings and assume Driver will be gone. That's some veteran leadership/ great personalities you're taking out of our locker room. Then our group of WRs going into next year will be-
1- Nelson
2-Jones
Slot- Cobb
4- Boykin
5- idk
Finley is basically a WR but not really. He can't run every route and play every position like the WRs. I don't want this to turn into a Cullen Jenkins thing where we are too sure of our backups and think they can step in without losing a beat.
For the right price, I want to keep him obviously. If he demands more than we'd like then we have a tough decision to make with other upcoming contracts. |

Is that how you accumulated that post count? How is that even mildly enjoyable for you? I fail to see how couldn't find something better to do with your time. _________________

I have a tough time believing that Brandon Marshall carries more trade value than Greg Jennings. _________________
