I figure our two highest needs are a pass rushing OLB and a Safety in the next draft. Then later on maybe we'll get a backup OT, backup ILB, and maybe an OG, and a young QB to be our #3.
1st Round: Guys Out of Our Reach
OLB Jarvis Jones
OLB Barkevious Mingo
CB David Amerson
DE Sam Montgomery
S Eric Reid
Might Fall:
ILB Manti Te'o, love to have him but not really our biggest need
CB Johnthan Banks, not our biggest need but tough to pass on
Should Be Available:
S TJ McDonald
OLB Sean Porter, might be the perfect Harrison replacement
RB Marcus Lattimore, only if we don't sign RB Mendenhall
OLB Brandon Jenkins, might be a reach
2nd Round:
S Baccari Rambo, talented but he has drug problems so I would pass on him
S Shawn Williams, I probably have him rated higher than most but he had 4 interceptions
S Tony Jefferson, tackling machine and 4 interceptions
OLB/ILB Gerald Hodges, tackling machine, a bit undersized
ILB Kevin Reddick, could be bigger
S Kenny Vaccaro, good size, excellent stats
S Robert Lester, good size, just decent stats
OLB Chase Thomas, 8.5 sacks |

Reid is the one Id love to get, but wont happen.
T'eo...Im not big on him for the 34...not sure Im that big on him in general. Inconsistent as hell....but I havent seen him play yet this year.
McDonald wouldnt be bad either, but isnt he more of a SS? (Forget)
No to Lattimore or any RB. Dwyer is looking good and Redman is solid...no RB is going to have success until we fix the line so drafting a RB that early is a waste, especially since we have talent at the position.
Too early to talk specific names, but ILB and S are the two biggest needs at this point IMO. _________________

Walter Steward DE/OLB Cinn - Former LB that plays DE for the bearcats. An exceptional edge rusher and still has good read and react skills from playing LB. Mid to late 2nd round at this point. _________________

As of right now my draft crushes are:
S - T.J. McDonald
S - Eric Reid
ILB - Manti Te'o
I too feel, like 43, that S and ILB are the biggest needs with OLB rounding out the top three. _________________

Chase Thomas is perhaps the most underrated player at this point.
He can cover far better than just about any other LB and is a man in pass rush and getting to the ball.
I have a lot of issues with this list but to each his own. _________________ Do something you love so much you'd gladly do it for free, learn to do it so well, people will gladly pay you for it. - Walt Disney |

Brandon Jenkins is out for the year, and there were talks of him falling pretty hard anyway. 3rd/4th round perhaps |

Shamarko Thomas, SS/FS from Syracuse.
You may notice him who intercepted Matt Barkley last sat.

He's at 5'10" 210 lbs. You may think he's an average athlete, actually he's not.
He ran around 4.2 and he sure can jump, he's been used everywhere on Syracuse's defense. Very intelligence, was a teammate of Justin Hunter from Tennessee for track in high school.
If there's a hidden gem, it's him. |

Other than the injury for what, harassing QB's too many times. Bjorn gets more credit than he deserves and it seems as if Jenkins doesn't get enough. _________________ Do something you love so much you'd gladly do it for free, learn to do it so well, people will gladly pay you for it. - Walt Disney |

I want Jarvis Jones in the worst way. He's the perfect OLB for us. He's basically a prospect version of James Harrison _________________ Come Follow The Great NSFL!

Have anyone honestly heard of shamarko thomas?
I guess I'll be the only one here who pimps him hard!
More information on him;
Played as a linbacker as a freshman, later on played safety and sometime cornerback. He's what all safety lack" constantly hard-hitting and a sure-tackler. Can be used in coverage but he's just as good as blitzing and he's faster than polamalu, so think about that for a bit.
His concerns were those; needs to be more disciplined..
That's his only red flag! I have looked everywhere to see if anyone had him ranked or mocked for any nfl draft in 2013 and he's not rankd! Its an insult for a player of his pedigree and athleticism! However cbs had him ranked 18 out of all safeties for 2013.
I suspect that playing for syracuse may have hurt his stock but when watching usc vs syracuse, you'll noticing barkley singling him out and when a qb of his pedigree noticed the impact of shamarko, you know he's the real deal.
He's not a household name for any collegiate ranking, but for me if we are able to land him, you bet he'll be my sudden favorite for best rookie on steelers roster for 2013! |

Top 5 pick at this point.
Love to have him. Hate to have the season necessary to have a shot at him.
Kid is flat out impressive. _________________

Yeah, there is no way this kid falls out of the top 5, he's a man-child. I'm torn between biggest need, S or LB. |

LB...Timmons has basically be an average player at best for the past year and looked like hot dog poo Sunday. He's gotta step up. Harrison is old and big cap $ next year. Not to mention Foote older, Spence coming off of knee reconstruction and Carter/Worilds not showing much. Not to mention Woodley is inconsistent as hell.
Personally LB and S are the biggest 2...throw in TE with Miller lookin for C3 and not being a big enough receiving threat especially in the redzone.
That's my 3 top needs as of now. |
