Week Two: We Miss Our Starters!

Matchups to watch for:

1. Revolving door at RT vs J.J. Watt: This is the most important matchup of the game. J.J. Watt is pushing himself into the upper tier of elite left ends in the game. We might see Guy Whimper starting at RT this week, which doesn't bode well for Blaine Gabbert and the passing game. Whether it is Cameron Bradfield or Guy Whimper, they are going to have their hands full handling the Texans' quick rising star.

2. Blaine Gabbert vs the Texans secondary: Gabbert proved that the offseason hype was, in at least part, justified with a very strong outing against last year's worst pass defense. He made quick, smart reads that This week, Gabbert gets a crack at one of last year's best pass defenses that terrorized rookie Ryan Tannehill in his first start week one. Can the Blaine Train get rolling against a top tier secondary?

3. Derek Cox vs Andre Johnson: Let's be blunt. We need Derek Cox. If he doesn't play, we may be in for a very long day. If he does, will we see the same Cox that we fell in love with over the course of the last season and a half? We'll need Cox to shut down Andre if we expect to have a chance this game.

Normally we only get three, but yay football!

4. Daryl Smith vs Adrian Foster: Another injury related matchup. Hopefully this isn't a theme for the season. The linebackers did not look good last week. However, getting the star of that group back should help shore up the corps as a whole, and as we face yet another top back of the league, this will be none-to-soon.

Key Questions for the Game:

How will the o-line hold up with all of these injuries?

Will we get key players back from injuries? Will they be able to contribute?

Can the offense and defense get on the same page?

It should be a tough, hard fought game. But it'll be very difficult to come out with a victory if the injury bug lingers, especially on defense. Two of our three best players on defense and possibly top five on the team are creating huge holes with their absence.

To be honest, Britton really needs to be moved back outside. We've seen Whimper's inability to handle even average athletes on the outside - maybe he could at least get in the way at guard? That defense may take Blaine out of the game if something isn't done.

I could see Marcedes basically being used as an extra tackle all day long.

I don't see us winning. Texans are simply a better team and the injuries to our O-Line, Daryl and Cox suck big time. Also not even sure what Jennings status is.

It's our home opener and against a division rival, so we'll see.

Guy Whimper is blackmailing Gene i am sure of it. He was terrible last year and we resign this guy this past offseason. Whimper is going to get someone killed.
