palmer isnt worth that much. maybe he can improve his stock this season but naw those #'s make me wanna upchuck.

It very rarely frees up money because you either have to re-sign them or sign someone else. Most of those guys are playing on their rookie contracts and close to the league minimum. For all of those, the only way to free up money is to replace them with rookies or guys with less than 4 years of NFL experience who would somehow end up being FA (which means they'd have been cut by their former teams).
