The cold honest truth is there is a strong chance that we don't improve this season which will seal the fate of Fraizer and his 4-3 cover-2 along with him. |
I think if we are not prepared to trade Jared Allen while his value is still very high, we should be trading for additional players to "win-now"
This in the middle business will lead to low success. |
Trading for players to ''win now'' seems like the same strategy that got us in this mess in the first place. _________________

It also almost got us to a Super Bowl. I've got no problem with going for it when the timing is right, but it's not right at this point. Trading Jared Allen for draft picks would probably be the bold move that makes the most sense for Vikings right now. |

We just used up 2 prime years of best DE in the league with Jared Allen on 6-10 and 3-13 seasons (a 3rd prime year for this season).
If we're not trading him at peak value, we should put ourselfs in position to seriously compete by next year.
What you dont want is to slow build, and have his production fall off. You want this to coinside together to have maximum roster benefit.
Build the rest of the team, hopeing Ponder is who you hope is could be _________________

Don't know how bold this is, but:
∙ Team goes 2-14
∙ Ponder fails to play every game
∙ Percy has 1700+ yards receiving/rushing
∙ Ellison unseats Carlson due to production/injury
∙ Frazier is fired after the season
∙ Spielman somehow retains his position _________________

Trading for 1 - 2 players is different than sucking at the draft and only keeping old guys around.
If you aren't going to trade for a LBer or two, then what is the point of not trading Allen and Peterson at this point? Their prime years are being completely wasted. _________________ Wins are a team stat, not a QB stat |

Who's going to show up at TCF in December of next year to watch this team without Jared Allen and Adrian Peterson? You can trade them away, but it in no way guarantees that it will make the team better. Especially with AP. What GM is going to give you reasonable value for Peterson coming off of a catastrophic knee injury? |

We've had trouble selling out games WITH them, so it's not like they've been some great draw.
I don't think fans go to games to see individual players as much as they go to see the TEAM. Players only play half the time, unlike in MLB or NBA where the individuals have a better chance of being a draw. That's my opinion, anyways. _________________

With AP and Allen they have been awful, terrible. they are not set up to be good this year. How long do you think those two will be good. You cannot get good by being afraid to commit one way or the other. so I am not sure I get your point. Since we have seen that they can be terrible with them. _________________ Wins are a team stat, not a QB stat |
