Per John McLain and Mark Berman, the Texans have waived Shelley Smith in order to make room for a free agent tackle.
Also, the Texans have added the following to their practice squad:
- RB Jonathan Grimes
- SS Eddie Pleasant
- TE Phillip Supernaw
- DE David Hunter
- LB Delano Johnson
- WR Jeff Maehl
- QB Case Keenum
There is one spOt left on the squad. _________________ Welcome to Houston, DeAndre Hopkins! |

If it isn't Fangupo that get's the last spot I'll be pissed.
We need a DT that is can be ready to go in a week from a knowledge of the playbook standpoint.
Cody should be back but a back problem, especially involving discs, are volatile and can flare up any time. Mitchell just plain sucks. _________________

According to Bleacher Report, we have claimed former Denver Broncos OT Ryan Harris off waivers. McLain says he will sign tomorrow if he passes his physical. _________________ Welcome to Houston, DeAndre Hopkins! |

Did you see him playing with the 1's in the 2nd and 3rd preseason game.
People were gashing us up the middle because he could hold his ground. Too easilly moved. And he didn't show enough playmaking ability to make it worth it. He's always really been someone that was a 3-4 DE that we just forced to keep up more weight. He isn't a NT, even in Wade's 3-4. _________________

Just a heads up, I'm reading that the Jets put in a conditional claim on Jonathan Grimes. I don't know if this means they get him or not. They also put a conditional claim in on DJ Bryant. _________________ Welcome to Houston, DeAndre Hopkins! |

Given that they're listed on the Team site as being on the practice squad, we should assume they made it through waivers. However, that does mean that there's a good chance of those 2 getting poached from the PS later on in the season. _________________

If this is true, this makes me happy. Harris has been one of my favorite OTs the last few years. I think he is exactly what we need and he fits the scheme perfectly. |

Whether another team claims him or not, the player has the option of sticking with the practice squad. A handful of guys every year decide to stick with one team's practice squad rather than get picked up by another team. _________________

After re-watching the Vikings game, I am extremely put out that Bryant and Louiseau aren't on our Practice Squad. _________________ Welcome to Houston, DeAndre Hopkins! |
