Heres a list of some players cut around the league who I think we should look at.
Greg Jones NYG(mich st) 6'0 248 23 LB(2011 6th\185)2011 Stats(31tkl,1tfl)
(He was the Giants starting MLB last year, instictive linbacker, little undersized and doesn't have a position, not quite a MLB,too short for SLB,not fast enough for WLB. Basically a solid special teamer, who can fill in at multiple LB spots and give you some versitility & Depth. on a side note we share the same bithday lol)
Willie Smith WAS(ecu) 6'5 308 25 OT
(Last year in 3starts as a Rookie vs JPP,Trent Cole & Jared Allen, he only gave up 2 total sacks. I was a big fan of his coming out of ECU. Hes a very good athlete, former TE was a UDFA in 2011. He is a athletic technician at Tackle, believe he would be an ideal fit for mudd's scheme,Really hope we sign him because if any of our tackles go down we're screwed)
Matt Reynolds CAR(byu) 6'5 315 26 T\G
(was a UDFA this year, former all-american at BYU,his dad is the byu o-line coach and his borther Dallas has been on our practice squad forever. Andy is knows this kid well, he is versitile and can play every position except for center. I think he would be a great sign for depth, but I'm not sure if he's exactly what mudd is looking for)
Dan Kopen NE 6'2 300 32 C
(He has been Tom Bradys Center for the past decade,is on the down side of his career, but has great experience and a winning pedigree with great leadership, with us having no back-up center I think he would be a great signing)
*Michael Thomas SF(stanford) 5'11 185 23 FS*
(2012 UDFA was a huge fan of his coming out; He's a true cover FS)
*Jerrell Harris ATL(alabama) 6'3 243 23 SLB*
(2012 UDFA,national champ, true SLB,great special teamer)
*Quentin Saulsberry MIN(miss st) 6'2 305 23 G\C*
(2012 UDFA,was All-Sec last year, went up against Cox everyday in practice)
Akwasi Owunsu-Ansah DAL(iup) 6'1 207 24 S
(was a dynamic player at IUP in college, was a 4th round pick in 2010 who hasn't done anything in the NFL and has been cut by dallas twice, but has size and talent and is learning the saftey position, with how terrible our depth is at saftey hes worth atleast taking a look at)
Lawrence Wilson NO(uconn) 6'1 229 24 WLB
(was a 2011 6th rounder. Hes a athletic true WLB. Got cited for Pot Possession in the off-season and will be suspended week 1. He's a guy who got the talent but is still a little raw and has some off-the field questions and work ethic questions, he can be a quaility starter in the NFL if he ever gets it all together but thats a Big if)
Other Noteable Realases
Deion Branch
Jabar Gaffney
Donte Stallworth
Chad Johnson,Terrell Owens,Plaxico Burress(all free-agents)
Tony Wragge BAL C
Matt Tennant NO(bc) C
Tim Barnes STL(mizzou) C
Mario Henderson SD OT
Andrew Datko FSU OT
*Micanor Regis* ATL(miami) DT
Mark Legree CHI(app st) 6'0 211 23 S
Alphonso Smith DET CB
Kendric Burney STL(unc) CB
Terrence Ganaway NYJ(baylor) RB
Jordan Todman MIN(uconn) RB
Tiquan Underwood TB WR
Marquize Maze Pit(Alabama) WR\KR
Cam Johnson SF(virginia) DE\LB
Sammy Brown STL(Houston) OLB

I would have no objection to signing Smith, Thomas, Harris and Johnson to the PS.
Cordarro Law, Josh Portis and Marlon Favorite as well. |

Fan of both Akwusi Owusu-Ansah and Marquis Maze coming out, but I don't know where either would fit on our roster. _________________

I think we should take a serious look at Dan Koppen. You're right, we don't have a backup C not to mention Kelce could use the mentoring/learning from Koppen as Kelce is still pretty unproven and raw. Would love the leadership he'd bring too, to what is obviously a young o-line. _________________

They added Beeler at C. Younger option.
Also, Akwusi Owusu-Ansah got cut by Dallas.
That says something.
Gilyard is, well, Gilyard.
He seems to have peaked at below average.
Cincinnati should sign him. The school, not the pro team. |

Thats actually not a bad signing. He was the starting center for Stanford 2years ago. He's a mudd type guy at only 6'3 290, athletic,2nd level type. He's not a bad signing but I personally would have loved to see us bring in Koppen. _________________
