Preseason game 4 comin' up Thursday v Indy, then its cut-down time.
Here's my final 53...(going with the extra back rather than an extra DL)

QB [2 from 3] DALTON/ GRADOWSKI, (Z.ROBINSON PSq)
RB [5 from 8] BJGE/ SCOTT/ LEONARD/ PEERMAN/ PRESSLEY,
(Brooks, Devlin - cut, HERRON PSq)
TE [3 from 5] GRESH/ CHARLES/ COCHART, (Lee - cut,
I know Gruden likes Lee, but I like Cocharts blocking)
WR [6 from 10] GREEN/ BINNS/ SANU/ TATE/ HAWKINS/ M.JONES
(Whalen, Hilton, Hazelton - cut, Moore (cut 27/8/12)
(Sad to lose Whalen. Some folks have us going with 7 x WR's)
OL [9 from 11] SMITH/ COLLINS/ WHIT/ ZEITLER/ COOK/ HUDSON/
BOLING/ T.ROBINSON/ ROLAND

(Stephens - cut/ O'DONNELL PSq) {plus IR-Wharton}

DL [8 from 12] GEATHERS/ MJ93/ ATKINS/ STILL/ THOMPSON/ DUNLAP/
ANDERSON/ PEKO

(Sims-PUP, Meotaga, Hayden-cut/ EVANS PSq)
LB [7 from 11] HOWARD/ MAUALUGA/ MUCKLEROY/ BURFICT/ LAWSON/
SKUTA/ REY
, (Moch-Susp, Micah Johnson, Hunter-cut, LAMUR-PSq)
DB [10 from 13] KIRKPATRICK/ HALL/ NEWMAN/ A.JONES/ ALLEN/
MAYS/ MILES/ CLEMENTS/ ILOKA/ NELSON

(TJ Heath-cut, DYE/ LEWIS-HARRIS -PSq)
{plus IR-Sands/ Ghee/ Prater/ Rogers}

ST's [3 from 4] NUGENT/ HUBER/ HARRIS, (DAVIS-PSq)

Anyone thinkin' different here ? 9 x DL, 8 or 10 x OL, 11 x DB's, 4 x TE ? Would we consider Bernard Scott getting cut a surprise ?

I wouldn't mind if we threw a 4th/5th at Dallas for Felix Jones. Lots of upside. I don't really like our backfield.

No offense to Felix, but i think Peerman would still beat him out. Felix is not a good RB...and Peerman at least plays teams.

And also put me on the Lee over Cochart train. I've never really liked him.

Whysat 'J'?

Kid hadn't done much wrong has he ? He's a much better blocker than Lee, and he caught more TD's than Lee last year; (OK OK, I know it was only one, but just sayin'........

Gruden has said Lee is his #2 TE......

He blocks well, but noone from the coaching staff ever said he blocks better than Lee. He has been third string for a reason. They want versatile TEs, niot just blockers or catchers (see:Coffman, Chase).

Any surprise cuts this year do we think ? Bernard Scott ? Robert Geathers ? Pat Sims ? (Nick Hayden has played well in pre-season). Orson Charles played some FB at Georgia, (4 x TE's keeping Lee & Cochart, with Leonard or Peerman cut maybe ?). Zac Robinson over Bruce Gradkowski maybe ? Bryce Davis over Clark Harris ?

Anyone for keeping Whalen and 7 x WR's ?

He's a pretty poor receiver. Actually, a very bad receiver. We may as well put another Olineman out there.

At least with Lee he provides solid receiving ability and ok blocking ability.

For me, if you keep Charles it's pretty hard to justify another roster spot for a one trick pony at the same position.

No to Whalen as a 7th WR. If we really want him long term, his hamstring will rip on thursday, placing him on IR. Pat Sims will start on PUP. He might get cut down the line, though, or revert to IR if he doesn't start practicing. Hayden will get axed from the roster when Sims goes to active, and then Hayden will replace someone on the PS. If he plays well, and noone else gets hurt, they might come up with a phantom injury for him as well.
No way we cut Scott with what we would be replacing him with, UNLESS..... (waiver wire pickup).
No to Cochart as a 4th TE over a 4th RB.

Surprise cut.... Leonard. What has he done the last two to three years outside the winning drive against the Steelers? He spends more time hurt than playing. The 4th spot goes to keeping the 7th LB. I still think Hobson is nuts for thinking we choose Burfict or Muckelroy. Keep them both. if they go 6 LBs, Rey gets cut and Muckelroy backs up WLB (which i thought he did at Texas anyway).

Our special teams coverage is fine, that's the only reason they'd consider signing him for.
