Flacco and Torrey Smith looked really impressive, I think you guys are in for a big season. |
Thanks man!
While you're here, I have to say: I'm going to be pretty pissed if Daryl Smith doesn't finish his career with at least one pro bowl appearance. It's sickening how underappreciated he's been throughout his career. _________________

When the hell did you become a Mod? |
Haha, like last week. I guess I talk about basketball a lot, and apparently the powers that be thought I would be a good choice to keep control of the hooligans in that forum? |
Man, literally everyone on this site must have turned down the offer in order for it to be awarded to YOU. Just kidding, nice man. _________________

They made a list of over 5000 applicants, I was number 4999.
Trust me...NOBODY willingly moderates the basketball forum. I actually don't know how I ended up with the mod badge, tbh. I think Webby must have drugged me.
All kidding aside, appreciate the support. Should venture over there sometime when college basketball season starts so me and BTerp aren't the only two posters in the Maryland thread. _________________

One thing that I haven't heard mentioned that I really like last night was the team continuing to work Leach into the passing game. One concern heading into this season with a more up-tempo, no huddle offense was what Leach's role in the offense would be and if he would signal obvious running plays by joining the on-field personnel. Getting the ball to him in space a couple of times, culminating in the TD was a very good job of "showing something" so that teams cannot discount the pass when Leach is on the field IMO.
Also, have to say that I loved the block he leveled in the long Rice run. And when I say block, I mean the defender completely hitting the ground and taking himself out of the play because he wanted nothing to do with big #44 on that play (first highlight in the video).

Regarding the kicking competition, I think that Cundiff is as good as gone. That was a high pressure situation for Tucker considering that it was potentially for his NFL career and he delivered.
I liked what I saw out of the receivers last night. Jones definitely short-armed the pass along the right sideline early in the game, but I like him as a returner and #3 guy playing out wide. Laquan Williams is definitely fighting to hold on to the #4 spot. I think we keep 6 with Streeter, Doss and Thompson fighting for the 2 remaining spots next week.
Not great seeing injuries in the secondary to guys like Considine and Cook last night, but I think that my man Omar has a very good shot at making the 53 now. _________________

Would be very glad to get some good discussion going. Maybe then I can sound more knowledgable when I speak to my fellow UMD alums about this season. _________________

I feel as if Pierce's hurdle isn't getting enough attention.

It would have been so much sweeter if he hurdled Landry. _________________

I thought it was only semi-impressive, but pretty dumb. Why hurdle a guy when there's someone standing right behind him to take you out? Pierce has to be more responsible with his body- even as a running back. So I wasn't a fan of the move. _________________
