Granted, I grew up playing volleyball and throughout high school, I have a more familiar bias towards how great this sport is. But I thought it was long overdue that the USA had a pro volleyball team league, men and women. From a male athlete standpoint, people will claim volleyball is more of a 'girl' sport. But those who have never played have no idea about the amount of technicality and ferocity that come with the sport. Volleyball requires a whole lot of athleticism, timing, reflex, and TEAM chemistry. Thoughts? _________________

I'd love for this to happen.
It would be as big of a personnel sport as Basketball so why not?
But you'd have to start out like the NLL, highly concentrated area.
But the problem is Volleyball is largely Brazil & Europe.
Not as much NA interest. _________________ Legends Never Die. They Breathe Through The New Generation.

Could you imagine the demographic ratings for young men if there was a female volleyball league? A lot of dudes would be demoted to the couch those nights _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |

I played collegiate men's volleyball. It is definitely a physically demanding sport at the higher levels. For d1 you don't have anyone touching under 11 feet on a roster let alone a starting lineup. Only other sports you see the combination of height and athleticism is basketball and football(freaks). It will never work in the states because its a sport you have to be there to enjoy.
It has the same problems that a lot of people who are unaware about how awesome hockey is. You go there and it is completely different. I suggest anyone who hasn't seen it watch around may 5 or so the final four for mens volley. Can catch it on BYUtv and Big 10 network every once in a while as well.
It is the 2nd biggest professional sport only to Soccer worldwide. Those stats might be most teams but nevertheless, it is huge in South America, Most of Europe excluding Britain and Korea, Russia, and China. I personally played with about 20-30 guys playing internationally now including 1 from my high school club team who is making 6 figures. not bad for a "girl" sport. _________________ RAMS = SUPERBOWL |
