The Rams have traded CB Josh Gordy to the Colts for a draft pick.
Gordy was basically signed off the street last season when the Rams were desperate for CB's. He was a pleasant surprise and was one of the few bright spots of last season. Thought he would have been nice depth in case oft-injured CB Bradley Fletcher wasn't ready for the season. Was most recently working from the nickel position in the pre-season but was most likely going to get stuck behind Cortland Finnegan, Janoris Jenkins, Bradley Fletcher, and Trumaine Johnson.
This is a nice get for the Colts who are starting Justin King at CB. Would expect Gordy to take over his spot. _________________

Gordy was a very nice surprise last year. And I get the trade. He would have made great depth at the CB, but would have rode the pine all season long baring a ton of injuries.
Good get for the Colts. |

| Solid player. I loved the depth the Rams have at corner so I guess he's expendable. Anybody want to guess what the pick is ? 6th rounder ? |

Guessing its something like a future 7th or a conditional 2012 7th based on if he makes the team or something.
Like everyone else has said, he was the lone bright spot in the most depleted secondary I've ever seen last year. He's got some upside to him. Good pickup for the Colts. _________________

Rams haven't done any trades recently. _________________

Rams overrate Gordy.. His metrics were horrendous last year.
Very Very Very Very bad..
People forget Bradley Fletcher, dude was having a sensational season
last year. Played better than Bartell hands down. Such a shame that
he is coming off his second ACL however. But we have tremendous depth
Johnso-Finny-JJ-Fletch-Murphy
Besides our Dline should be so much better.
Long and Quinn look to be a force. _________________

The day I let metrics tell me how to evaluate a football player is the day I stop watching football. No one is saying Gordy was a Pro Bowler last year but he was a young kid who was signed off another team's practice squad who came in, started and flashed a lot of potential.
I'm not disappointed that we traded Gordy based on how well he played last year, I'm disappointed based on how good I think he can be in the future based on the play I saw out of him last year. With young players, you always have to keep a mind to the future. Gordy showed the ability to be a starting CB in this league last year. Sure, he had his faults. Some of it was inexperience and some of it was scheme related. Still, the kid showed a lot. I'll be rooting for him in Indy and expecting good things.
The only positive here is that we're getting a pick for a player at a position of strength. As you said, we do go 5 strong at CB. _________________

You can never have enough corners. Rams probably should have kept him and tried to develop him more... _________________

Issue for the Rams is that with him, we were 6 deep. I do agree that I wish we would have kept him but it was a numbers game. I think they really like Burney as the backup slot CB. It would have been tough to keep 7 CBs. So it makes sense considering Gordy was most comfortable as an outside CB. _________________
