Is this even possible in today's technologically advanced NFL? Am I stupid or does it just not make sense for some of the jaguars to be out of the loop for this long?

For example, when is the last time you've heard Clint Session's name not on the injury report? It just seems too strange for someone like Session to be out or that long with a concussion.

Session got a concussion, didn't report it, and got a second concussion just a few plays later. It's incredibly serious (and honestly, it could have killed him when he got the second one) and there is absolutely no reason to question why he is still out. Serious side effects of a double concussion can last a lifetime.

What is the recovery period for a concussion?

It's really different, based on a number of factors (concussion history, time between concussions, severity of concussion, how quickly it was treated, blows sustained after the concussion, general brain health, and even carries for each individual). For a first concussion, it generally could be anywhere from 1 week to 1 month. It depends on when their cognitive function returns to normal.

For something like what Session had, you're hoping for somewhere around a 4-6 month recovery, I'd imagine. It looks like he might be looking at a situation where he never recovers his full cognitive function, has to retire and spends the rest of his life trying to rebuild it.

Obviously, I'm not privy to actual information about his specific injury, and I'd hope this isn't the case, but it's a possibility.

Depends on the case, but I honestly think they should take like an extra month after the time the doc says it okay to play

I know it's a different sport, but wasn't Sidney Crosby down for over a year due to a concussion? Those aren't "injuries" you want to take lightly. Broken bones, tears, etc can all heal in time. Head injuries are serious. There is more to life that you have to consider than just playing football again.
