They haven't said. The only word is a shoulder injury, and that he was done for the night. _________________

Wonder why Kevin O'Connell isn't getting any snaps.
I can't say I'm confident in either of our kickers but it looks like it's Kaeding's job to lose now. |

We're accepting applications. You'd have to change the name though. _________________

Saw some pretty good stuff. I wanted to see a little more of the rookie RB's. There were a few guys that I didn't see at all, so hopefully they get some time in next week.
If Lee keeps playing like he did, Whitehurst may not make the final roster.
Were people really knocking Ingram because his arms are a little shorter than ideal? He seemed to use them well.
Who is this Embree kid, and where did he come from?
Mike Harris did well once he figured out he could be aggressive.
Wright looked great on ST's, but still a lot lost as a CB. I'm worried about the CB depth.
You'd like to think that Clary would learn how to block going into his 6th season. Nope.
There needs to be a lot of Vincent Brown this year.
The depth on the OL looks like it could be good. _________________

Just not good. It's almost like he finds ways to get hurt.

Despite a litany of minor injuries of two seasons, coach Norv Turner hds expressed confidence in Mathews' ability to take a pounding as a workhorse back. Durability concerns reared their ugly head after just one carry in the first exhibition game. Mathews will undergo surgery Friday. In a best-case scenario, he could return just in time for the season opener. Regardless, his early-season workload will have to be scaled back. Turner insists his "hopes" for Mathews have not changed and still expect "a great year." As do we, with the obvious risk caveat. The savvy owner will pounce once Mathews' ADP plummets over the next few days. Ronnie Brown is next up on the depth chart. |

| I really like the guy. He just needs to stay healthy. He will be a great RB if he can. |

Yeah. Many people will point to Ryan being injury prone but this seems like a fluke injury to me. Frustrating news though.

UCLA. Never really saw him too much of him because of awful QB play. Looks like he could make the PS.

Agreed on all 3. Brown should see a good number of snaps, and hopefully he can step it up and the Chargers will have a good option if/when Floyd leaves after this year. But I'm glad he was dominating the backups. |

I knew Whitehurst signed a pretty good backup deal, but I didn't realize they paid out a $1mil signing bonus. He's safe, so we may see 3 QB's sticking this time. If that bonus wasn't there, 2yr/$4mil might have been too much. I was thinking that for the price O'Connell may stick as the 3rd, and Lee the backup. _________________

Do you think the FO makes a move for someone to cover for Mathews, or do we go with what we got?
Just terrible news! _________________

They've already announced that Brown will start. If it goes into the season, I'd expect to see the depth chart look like..
Brown
Hester
Brinkley
Battle
The bottom performer goes home when Mathews gets back. _________________
