On top of that, Burney had an excellent mini camp.
I actually got to go and watch them practice a few times at the mini camps, and Burney actually stood out to me as one of the better ones. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he makes the team. _________________

Unless he has a spectacular pre-season/training camp, there's really nothing guaranteeing him a roster spot in my eyes. What doesn't help his cause is that Devaney is gone. _________________

Kellen Clemens was the only veteran QB signed, with his history with Schotty hes gonna be the Backup to Sam. Greg Salas is as good as a lock. Assuming health Hoomanawanui is a lock, they didnt bring in a TE anywhere near his talent, and with Eldridge suspended there isnt much competition. I think Eugene Sims is a lock, He is clearly #4, but #5 isnt anywhere close. Josh Hull Id put in there too as the leader of ST and the Top backup LB we have. Stewart is more of a Lock than Mikell, and I would say Fletcher, Murphy and Gordy are all locks as well.
They brought in alot of guys, but not nearly as much as you seem to think.
On defense there are 2 spots open in the secondary, 1 or 2 open in the LB corps, and 1 open on the DL (liley coming form outside the Org) 25 spots total.
On the otherside, there is likely 1 or 2 spots on the OLine, 2 or 3 spots in the backfield (QB/RB/FB) depending on if we keep 3 rostered QBs, and probably 3 spots being fought over in the Receiving Corps (WR & TE) Likely 23 spots total.
Then you have your 3 specialists; Kicker, Punter, Long Snapper where the only competition is really at Punter. And the final 2 Roster spots come down to your special teams aces and can come from either side of the ball (your Dom Curry/Hoffman-Ellis types)
There are likely 15 open spots open going into camp, thats a good amount but not as much as you would think a team like last years would have. There easily 17 guys from last years team that I would call locks, and its more like 20. I get what you are saying, high turnover, but youre shorting alot of guys. |
LOL, there are a few ifs in your response. I called out the locks only. I'll agree that Kellen and Salas are highly likely, but they are not locks. _________________

Seems like a good bet to happen. Its the right thing to do, let Pead slowly take over. Let Steven run himself as long as he can, as the lead back, then go to the 50-50 split, then finally let S-Jax be the veteran power back as he looses quickness while Pead is the lead back.
His current contract goes through next year, and he will be a 30 year old FA. I would think its a 2 year extension, possibly a courtesy 3rd year to look good. |

Him retiring a Ram having never left would make the past 10 years worth having to be a fan through. Get this done. I couldn't stand to see him in another uniform. _________________

These are my favorite kinds of posts.
For the better part of a decade Sjax is the only player we've had that I'd consider truly elite. Once retired, His number shouldn't be worn by another Ram. |

Its good to see this, I like making usre all our guys are in there. Janoris got $3.1 million guaranteed, believed to be the biggest raise in guaranteed Money over the same slot from last year.
Its also funny to see that our "Diva" pick with a supposed "contract dispute" is sing and made it to camp with his nose clean, but Blackmon couldnt do either but not a chance people would have picked that to be the case because of how "good of a guy" JB was and how much of a "trouble maker" Jenkins was. |

In the Next Week or so Im going to profile a few players out there who Could be Cut during the Preseason and actually be signed to this team. Im going to try and stay away from the Pipedreams, and find guys who could actually have impact, not just roster fillers.
Tommy Kelly DT Oakland Raiders
Ht: 6'6" Wt: 325lbs Age: 31 Years: 9
Not only might this happen, its one that I really want to happen, and could potentially be the guy this coaching staff is holding out for. Kelly isn’t the Best DT in the league, but he is being paid like one as another of the Raiders dumb mistakes. But now they are bringing in guys who fit their system and aren’t overpaid. If they Raiders really do want to bring in another RB like Cedric Benson they are going to have to clear some money. Kelly’s contract is a little murky as Im not quite sure how much of his bonus money is guaranteed vs performance/workout money.
But, if Tommy Kelly somehow hits the market again, I cant imagine that Mike Waufle wouldn’t be pushing hard to sign this Vet. He actually compared Michael Brockers to Tommy Kelly post draft. Not saying that they are the same type of player, but to the fact that people said Kelly couldn’t rush the passer, and was just a plodder. Well Waufle coached up Kelly (along with sliming him up) to be quite a nice Interior Pass rusher. With 7.5 sacks last year and 14.5 over the past two season he is the exact rotational pass rusher that we need to add to this group.
Kendall Langford is the all around DT, he will have a bit of an adjustment into the 43, but he anchors very well against the run and has nice repertoire for pushing and collapsing the pocket. Brockers is clearly very raw, with a ton of talent, but for now is going to be a NT and take up a ton of blockers till Waufle can mold him into a monster. And then we have Laws who is nice rotational guy who is built like a fireplug and just uses raw power to be effective.
We are clearly missing that interior pass rush specialist, and Tommy Kelly could be that guy. Take him out of being a full time DT, let him rest up and use maximum effort in passing situations and he could be a major weapon, especially with Long & Quinn on the outside. If James Hall can get 6 sacks last season with a much worse interior line, and Kelly had 7.5 as a full time player, I think he can at least match that number as a specialist, if not surpass it with all the other rushers we have. |

Why don't the Rams sign Jake Scott guard Titans. He has started for a long time since I believe when Bell left the Titans. Fisher knows him and he could start immediately unitl "The Rock" is ready to begin his beast carreer. Fisher and Scott know each other bro! _________________

Then we'd have the same problem Jacob Bell had here. He would not be a good fit in the power scheme. Would honestly rather have Watkins start. _________________

Agreed. Remarkable how this guy has stuck with this team through thick and thin. Wait....mostly thin! He was apart of some of the worst teams this franchise has ever seen, and a team that hasn't been better than .500 since he was drafted, yet he STILL wants to retire a Ram. Marshall is still my favorite Ram of all time, but I felt that I've really followed Steven's career a lot closer and will probably put him #1 on my list. Even though the teams were crappy, I have some great memories watching this guy run.
As much as it would suck to see him in another jersey, the man deserves a ring. Hopefully the Rams bring him one. But if not, and the team decides to go into fail mode again, I would be happy for him if he left for another team and got a ring (as long as it's not a team in this division...) _________________
