| I know most of you are accustomed to the dork as our logo but c'mon Nationers, it's time for a makeover. IMO, that is not a Raider, the rabid fans in the Black Hole are more intimidating and menacing that this wuss. Given you're disrespect to the greatest logo in sports. The iconic image that is the Oakland Raiders, I'm inclined to guess you are young and influenced by the 'nike generation' and lack an understanding of the history of this great team.
Suppose that 'skull pulling off the face' logo is more up your alley? That imposing enough for you?
This post is absolutely disgusting. That 'dork' as our logo, that 'wuss' is what represents 3 Superbowl wins and the legacy of a man who dedicated himself to an ideal. It represents some of the baddest players to step onto the turf.
That logo is THE RAIDERS. If it's not Hot Topic enough for you, I suggest you look somewhere else for a team that fits your cliches.

No, but even they got a makeover decades ago. Our logo is just "tired" I know some of you are accustomed to that old logo but it's time IMO. It's just a regular old bum under our helmet, a makeover is well overdue playa.

I've seen the concept your referring to looka and that would be an upgrade. However, I'd rather not have that joker on the helmet at all, just a menacing figure to signify the change this team is going through as well. Now that Al is out of the way, this team is headed toward a New Era and a new logo would be appropriate IMO. No disrespect but our logo is way outdated my man, several teams have had makeovers, the Broncos, Pats, Cards, Panthers, Bucs, Rams, Seahawks, and Ravens just to name a few.

Great post, BP. Obviously, a logo doesnt make a team. It has no bearing on their success. However, our team is of a rich tradition. That logo has been worn by Hall of Famers, Super Bowl winners, and some of the most famous players in the history of the sport. Say what you will about Al Davis, but the man was an innovator, and a maverick. He went against the norm to do things his way, and he got things done. That logo represents a lot more than just a guy wearing a helmet. You hear it every year from rookies that we draft, or FAs that we sign: they are excited to play for the Rauiders... why? They almost always mention the rich tradition, the Raiders of old, that swagger, the nastiness, etc. If the players are into that, why shouldnt the fans be? I know teams like the Cardinals, Panthers, Buccaneers, and Seahwaks were listed as teams that have changed their logos. Look at those teams. Tell me about their rich history, you cant because they dont have one. Heck, even the Patriots were nothing to speak about when they changed their logo. The Bears, Steelers, Packers, and the Raiders are teams with legacies. They have history, and you dont see them changing their logo during times of turmoil or otherwise. I understand our team is transforming, but changing the logo has nothing to do with that. This is the Oakland Raiders.

Lol All those logos you just listed are still whack, which is the reason they tried changing in the 1st place. They don't come anywhere close to the Raiders shield. The reason the Raiders logo has never had to be changed (aside from the AFL logo) is because it's not outdated and the art has always had a modern look to it. You just want to change it for the sake of changing.

First off, the logo is timeless. It's stood 6 generations without looking out of date or stale. Other teams change their logos because they are truly our of style or worse, to adhere to trends.
Personally, I am damn proud to be a fan of a team who doesn't have to constantly change their image to get me to by their merchandise.
Second, this team will forever be Al Davis's team. He is immortalized as the Raiders and this image. Re-imaging the team post Al Davis would be the ultimate disrespect. More so, because nobody knows if this new direction is the right direction.
And finally. A 'menacing' figure. Look, the Raiders were the bad boys of football in their day and attracted the menacing characters and fans along the way. Changing the logo to something menacing only insults generations who wore the shield with pride.
So no, this logo will stand the test of time. We don't need a Hot Topic makeover to fit a cliche of being a menacing team.
