Jeremy Lane - DB - Seahawks

Seahawks sixth-round CB Jeremy Lane reportedly performed so well in offseason practices that he's in the mix for sub-package snaps.
It's a bit of a surprise in that he was viewed as a project after starting just one season at small-school Northwestern State. Lane did arrive with "surprisingly good hip flexibility and speed" while improving his ball skills under NFL coaching during OTAs. Marcus Trufant and Walter Thurmond are considered the favorites for nickel duties.

I think this guy may be our sleeper of 12' draft.

If he becomes anything...and I do mean anything, our scouting department is just stupid good at evaluating late round CBs.

What would you guys think if we spent a 3rd on supplemental draft WR Josh Gordon. 6’4, 225 lbs, and runs in the 4.4’s. I don’t know a bunch about him but I know he was kicked off Baylor for possession of mary jane. I also know he has a poop load of potential. I think he could be a great #2 here.

Certainly sounds like a guy we'd give a shot, though I have to imagine a more WR-hungry teams offers more than we would (as far as what round the pick is in).

What would you be willing to offer?

I'd have no issue giving a 4th rounder. I could see a team pushing it to a 3rd but I don't know if we are in that position.

Sounds like the Browns or Bills are prepared to give up a 3rd for him. Also he ran a 4.52 I think at his Pro-Day. Not too bad for a guy that size but not 4.4 either.

Quote: Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times believes that Williams and 2009 third-round pick Deon Butler are among those on the roster bubble. Sidney Rice, Doug Baldwin, and Golden Tate should be locks. Williams and Butler are battling for spots with guys like Ben Obomanu, 2011 fourth-rounder Kris Durham, and Ricardo Lockette.

What do you guys think? I like Mike Williams and I think he belongs on the roster but it's so hard to find a spot for all of our receivers. I wish we could keep 7.

Rice, Williams, Baldwin, Tate, Obo, Lockette

Those are the 6 I see us holding onto with Durham as an outside shot. I don't see Butler being retained.

Durham still has Practice Squad eligibility right? It's too bad Butler might be on the outs - So much speed but just couldn't translate it to production on the field.

I promise (after the top 4 rookies) korey toomer and jaye Howard will be the best two from this class.

Lane is starting to sound like Baldwin from last year tho, I won't lie

I don't see Howard amounting to anything really. He got bullied by college guards in the trenches, I can't imagine he'll find success on the interior in the NFL.
