At only age 32, Tomlinson joins a long list of NFL legends who retired this off-season.
The 5 time Pro-Bowler and 4 time All-Pro was drafted by the Chargers 5th overall in the 2001 draft, he went on to rush for 13,684 yards and 162 total TDs in his 12-year career.
However his career is also mostly known for failure at playoffs time as he often didn't play well in the post-season.
Last season his average per carry was only 3.7.

Ravens fan here.
I definitely shed a tear when I heard this news. He was my second fav player of all time and was a true class act. He gave us many "wow" moments with his skills. I will miss his play and his character.
I hope he gets into a runningback coach role or even a TV analyst.
LaDanian Tomlinson, one of the best of all time.. _________________

Its truly sad to see him go. He is the reason I am a Chargers fan today.
A true legend, first ballot HOF, and the best running back in the last decade.
Good luck LT _________________

Seriously? That is what his career is known for?
How about setting the rushing touchdown record, total TD record, winning back to back rushing titles, catching 100 passes in a year which he rushed for over 1600 yards, being in the top 5 for most running back statistics, and all the great charity and community work he and his family have done?
I know Patriots fans don't like the guy, but his career success far outweighted whatever failures he had in the postseason.
One of my favorite athletes of all time, and really the player that got me back as a hardcore Charger fan after the dreadful years prior. |

Congrats to LT on a magnificent career. As a Broncos fan the man gave me fits, but he was just so awesome to watch. LT will not be remembered for his playoff performance. He'll be remembered as the guy who brought Charger football back to relevance, and as one of the best do-it-all running backs in the game.
Great career. Congrats. _________________

Remember you're talking to a Pats fan...You kinda have to grade on a curve here...
I've always liked LT and his demeanor until he left the team. But i'm definitely thankful for all he gave to this city and all the excitement he brought to this organization and that's what he should always be remembered by. _________________

Great player, great Hall of Fame speech. I hope he doesn't go into broadcasting and become a national punchline like Emmitt Smith. He's...a little...slow....when he....talks.
So is LT the greatest Charger of all time? I personally think so even though we have had some great players in our history (Lance Alworth, Dan Fouts, Kellen Winslow, Junior Seau etc) |

One of my favorite players ever and one of the BEST to ever play the game. I don't think I could ever understand how the Chargers was never able to win a RING with LT in his prime by surrounding him with talent. The Chargers were loaded at one point with LT, Rivers, Gates, Merriman (before he was busted for roids), Weddle and Jammer too. Sad to see him never get one _________________

Writting was on the wall....
You guys think FO will give him a 1 day contract so he can retire as a Charger?
I think it needs to happen.
LT will always be in our hearts, no matter what. _________________
