In the first voting thread, the people chose the best starting QBs in franchise history. The voting broke down as follows:
1. Roger Staubach - 56 points (9 1st-place votes)
2. Troy Aikman - 49 points (2)
3. Tony Romo - 35.5 points (1)
4. Danny White - 26.5 points
5. Don Meredith - 14 points
For this thread, you are asked to do two rankings:
a) Select the top-5 backup QBs in Cowboys history.
To qualify for this position, the QB must:
- Not have started more than 12 games in any single season when he was with the Cowboys; and
- Not have started at least 8 games in multiple seasons with the Boys (hence, he would have been the team's #1 QB).
b) The five worst QBs to every start a game in franchise history.
To qualify, the QB must have been with the club for at least a season and started at least 1 NFL game. There are a lot of QBs to choose from.
Voting ends a week from today. _________________

To qualify for this position, the QB must:
- Have been dressed for at least 6 games as a backup QB for the Cowboys. As such, Bernie Kosar would not qualify since he only dressed for 4 games.
- Not have started more than 6 games in any season.

IMO Kosar should be allowed. He actually played a huge game for the Cowboys. I think when we judge back ups, we don't care if they were on the team for a full season... We only care about how they played when their number was called. I would put Kosar around 5. And sometimes back up QBs have to start more than 6 games. Should Jon Kitna be removed from contention because he started more than 6 games? He was clearly the back up and only started because Romo broke his collar bone.
I'm tentatively going to respond without the above stipulations and if TSSS is adamant about the stipulations I will redo my list.
1. Steve Beuerlein
2. Craig Morton
3. Danny White
4. Jason Garrett
5. Bernie Kosar
As for the 5 worst...
1. Q
2. Steve Pelluer
3. Eddie LaBaron
4. Chad Hutchinson
5. Vinny Testaverde _________________ Quote from May 7, 2013...

I don't like the criteria for the backups either. Jon Kitna and Craig Morton are two of the best backups we ever had. But, they started too many games, so they don't count? That just seems wrong.
Best Backups
1. Jon Kitna
2. Jason Garrett
3. Steve Beulrein
4. Wade Wilson
5. Bernie Kosar
Worst Starters
1. Steve Pelluer
2. Anthony Wright
3. Chad Hutchinson
4. Ryan Leaf
5. Gary Hogeboom
Edited to reflect TSSS' change in ruling. _________________

Slam, I see your point about Kosar, and I can concede to it. So, Kosar can qualify. Same with Kitna.
However, White cannot qualify since he was a long-term starter. I'll change the OP. _________________
