How's it going guys!? I'm sure many of you know me as the rambunctious Seattle homer that posts way too much.
Well in my spare time during this time of the season I usually run a Fantasy Football Advice thread for those of you that are into that kinda thing. Check out the 2012 thread I'll be making soon!
Anyways, I just had a few questions to ensure that I'm not ignorant with any advice I provide this offseason. That's why I've come up with a batch of clarifying questions for all 32 teams and getting my facts straight. Thanks to everyone that helps in advance!
Questions
1. Devin Hester is reportedly the team's #2 WR going into the 2012 season. However, would you rather have him or Alshon Jeffrey as a fantasy owner?
2. Matt Forte is looking like he'll holdout for the long haul. How do you think this and the knee injury affect his 2012 production?
3. Jay Cutler is getting a lot of hype this preseason for fantasy, however, prior to his injury last season he was on pace to only be the 14th rated QB. Why do you think he should be taken top 10 this year? _________________

1. I rather have Alshon. I think its only a matter of time before he gets to start.
2. Honestly it all depends on how long he holds out. If he holds out well into Training Camp then I would stay away from him. I think Michael Bush may take a chunk of carries away.
3. I would take him top 10. Look at the weapon he had to work with last year. Plus the fact that Martz isnt here(Bates and Tice playing more to his strengths). Im really excited to watch Cutler next year. _________________

1. Alshon easily. We've seen what Devin can do at receiver, and it isn't very much. I know Alshon is a rookie WR and all, but he will likely be our #2 or #3 at the very least early on in 2012.
2. Forte may look like he's about to hold out for the long haul, but I doubt he really does. He wants to make more money, which we all get, but he made 500k last year and has a chance to make nearly $8M this year (albeit with a one year deal only). It doesn't make very much sense to hold out for him. He may skip a week of TC just to make a statement, but I expect him to be in there week 1 collecting his paychecks. And even aside from the money side of things, Matt is a great teammate and he wants to help this team win.
This whole contract debacle has really overshadowed the knee injury he suffered against the Chiefs. I honestly have no idea how it will affect him since it appears no one is talking about it. My guess is that he is fine and has no lingering effects since it wasn't a very serious injury (only a sprain I think).
3. There are two main reasons to be optimistic for Cuter this year:
- No more Mike Martz and his 7-step drops, timing routes, not using TEs etc.
- BRANDON FREAKING MARSHALL (not to mention other weapons such as Alshon and Michael Bush added and the TE position as a whole will be a receiving threat again)
I expect big things from him this year. He was on his back a whole lot last season and that had a lot to do with Martz's blocking schemes. Later into the season Tice started getting his hands on the offense a lot more and the blocking was 1000000x better and the Bears were scoring 30+ points a game and I believe they were ranked #4 in the league in terms of scoring. All of that was with Hester, Bennett, Knox, Roy Williams, and Dane Sanzenbacher at WR. Now we got Marshall, Bennett, Jeffery, and Hester.
If all goes as planned, Cutler should have a HUGE year. _________________ Martellus Bennet highlight video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lP8fHN53t0 |

1. Alshon. I definitely don't thing Hester will be our 2nd best WR this season. I see both Jeffery and Earl Bennett having a better season that him. Also, it seems that every year we hear the same thing with Hester, how he is going to have a break out year, etc. never happens.
2. I think Forte will be back mid to late training, if not shortly after. I don't think he is that type of player as I see him more of a team player than anything. If he really wanted to hold out for a big portion of time, it would have been last year. However, when forte does come back, I don't know if I would put so much stock in to him as years past. As mentioned earlier, I think his carries will go down and it will be a much more balanced attack with he and Bush.
3. Without a doubt, I would put Jay Cutler in the top 10 qbs this year. You look at what he has done with our offense the last 3.. Mainly last 2 years... And then you add guys like Bush(ability to catch the ball out of the backfield), Marshall, Jeffery, and who I think will add a new look is Evan Rodriguez.
No problem, and go Heat! Haha NOT. I despise the heat and have no reason to ever root for them. Go bulls. _________________

He's not #2...Jeffery is..with Bennett in the slot. Hester is going to have his package of plays, but I would consider Jeffery our real #2.
2. Matt Forte is looking like he'll holdout for the long haul. How do you think this and the knee injury affect his 2012 production?
Forte is not going to hold out for long, but I am expecting him to miss some mandatory practices, but those fines will add up quickly and he his whole reason for holding out is to get more money, doesn't seem like getting fined tens of thousands of dollars for every missed practice is going in the right direction. He can't get out of the franchise tag, he's stuck with it and can either play for $7mil or sit out an entire year...I'm guessing he wants the money.
3. Jay Cutler is getting a lot of hype this preseason for fantasy, however, prior to his injury last season he was on pace to only be the 14th rated QB. Why do you think he should be taken top 10 this year?
His fantasy numbers won't be huge...mainly because we do run the ball quite a bit...looking at guys like Rodgers or Stafford, they don't have much of a running game so they have to pass more, and they are going to have higher numbers. Fantasy wise I would probably have Cutler as a backup, but not sure I would have him as my starter. _________________

1. I would take Alshon before Hester, also dont sleep on Davis this year, he will be much more involved in Tice's offense.
2. Forte should be a top 7 pick for running backs and shouldnt fall out of the 2nd round. But, id grab Bush too if i could.
3. Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Romo, Rivers, Newton, Manning, Manning, Vick, Stafford, Schaub, I could probably name a couple more, Cutler is not a top 10 fantasy qb. |

I think I'd take Cutler before Schaub to be honest. The Texans just don't pass the ball that often.
What kinda numbers are you guys expecting from Marshall? 100+ catches or is your offense predicated more on spreading it out? _________________
