This is really outrageous. I recognize that this stuff has probably gone on for years, but this is people's livelihood and there is lots of money on the line.

There should be some "lifetime / permanent suspensions" - that would send the right message. I think for starters, Shawn Payton should be permanently banned from the NFL - culpability starts at the top. One year is just not enough.

2. Payments were made for plays such as interceptions or fumble recoveries. All such payments are against league rules. Payments also were made for plays on which opposing players were injured. In addition, specific players were sometimes targeted. The investigation showed bounties being placed on four quarterbacks of opposing teams – Brett Favre, Cam Newton, Aaron Rodgers, and Kurt Warner.

I officially hate the New Orleans Saints as much as I hate the New England Patriots. They are a bunch of filthy scum bags and I hope their franchise crumbles to pieces. Gregg Williams should be banned from the league for LIFE.

Sean Payton deserves every bit of what he got, and probably more.

I can't wait until the Player suspensions are announced.

More importantly, I can't wait until we play the Saints this year and Cam Newton destroys them.

I'm surprised we don't have a thread on this yet, but the Panthers could be in position to take the NFC South crown as early as next season. The Saints are looking at suspensions/fines/draft pick loses, and could be losing some key players with Colston and Nicks.

When I first heard of this, I immediately thought of the Roman Harper hit on Steve Smith after he walked into the endzone.
The first one I thought of was the hit by Fujita where he tried to tear up Smith's knee. Always hated him after that.
Don't remember that. When was it?

This video makes me so angry.
Yeah Mad ! That's the first cheap shot I thought of when all if this bounty stuff hit the fan. I've seen them as a dirty team for a while, which is why I'm not surprised about all of this Rolling Eyes .

EDIT: I wonder how much Fujita was paid for that play Rolling Eyes .

Are you familiar with the troubles that the Saints have had with Steve Smith?

“Yeah I am, and I’ve had the same issues too. It’s not like this is the first time I’ve gone against those guys. He’s an unbelievable football player. I wanted to draft him when I was the head coach of the Bills but obviously he came off the board before I had a chance to do that. In fact, his receiver coach in college was my receiver coach at the Buffalo Bills. I knew him inside and out but we couldn’t convince our personnel people to move him up the list to take him sooner. Our receiver coach up there and I wanted him a lot sooner than he was taken by anybody in the league, but he had a couple of health issues coming out. But he’s an unbelievable football player. He does things that obviously you can’t coach. He’s in a system where they’re going to do two or three things that we haven’t even seen on film where they’re going to try to scheme a big play to him. They try to walk down the path with them. Last week they did it; last week they threw one of those plays where they acted like they were going to run it and then they threw it to him on a short hitch, he nods and he goes right on by them. They do a lot of things like that. He’s so explosive. The thing that I think he does is the best is that for a little guy, when the ball goes up in the air, he plays like a 6-10 center; he goes and gets it. What you have to do is to turn his little body over so that when he does get it, he lands on his head and he doesn’t come back in for a while.”

So, the NFL has this ledger from the Saints where it kept track of the earnings from the bounties. Sources said that the Saints had 3 $1000 bounties during a Panthers game. Expect 2 very hard hitting games this year.....and hopefully 2 big wins.

I honestly cannot say I'm surprised by the Saints having 3 bounties on us. Probably Cam, Smitty, and probably Shockey.

Could we blame Otah's injury on this as well? It would make me feel better.

I have a hard time believing they would put a bounty on Shockey. He was one of their own for a few years. I guess no one is exempt though.

This is just sad.

The reason I mentioned Shockey is because I don't believe he left on the best of terms and was on there for a couple of seasons.
