Yes, I know training camps are weeks away, but I want to talk some football dang it.
Starting with this interesting tidbit off of the OTAs:
| Quote: | | With Will Beatty sitting out while recovering from a detached retina, second-year pro James Brewer got some work at left tackle with the starting offensive line. David Diehl played right tackle. ... |
http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/giants/giants_corner_in_brief_return_INUFNnfHSNytRmKgCD9lJM#ixzz1w53Vo7T4
I think this says a few things.
1. Petrus will most likely get a shot at starting.
2. The guys we drafted are most likely our RT projects.
I know JR said something about Brewer having LT feet, but I always assumed he'd be groomed to replace McKenzie. Regardless I think RT is a good fit for Diehl. |

Mitch Petrus had better start next year. Kevin Boothe is better in pass protection but that's because Petrus still doesn't know how to utilize his strength in pass blocking yet but he's learning. Boothe is soft and besides Snee Petrus is our best run blocker. I see Petrus as a top 10 guard in a few years.

Also, there's some video on the linebackers doing drills. You don't see much of any individual player, but Herzlich looked pretty good in his drills. _________________ GO G-MEN |

New York Giants TE Martellus Bennett (hamstring) has not been participating in organized team activities because of a hamstring injury. Tight ends coach Mike Pope said Bennett weighed 291 pounds last week and does not think Bennett's legs can support that weight while doing the things the team has asked him to during workouts.

Sucks that he had to go through all that. Doesn't the NFL take note of what prescription drugs players are taking? Especially with something like adderall.
I'm really interested to see which running backs make the team this year. I think it will be AB, Wilson, Scott, and Ware (I'd rather have Brown, but the Giants love Ware for whatever reason). Hopefully they bring out the best in each other. |

He is a career underachiever. Old habits die hard. |

Hearing good things about Jayron Hosley in practice:
Ian Taubin
@InReeseWeTrust
| Quote: | | Everyone is very impressed with Hosley at the nickle CB. Could be a huge steal for the Giants in this year draft. #nyg #giants #vtech |
@art_stapleton
| Quote: | | Jayron Hosley looked very good in nickel covering Victor Cruz in slot during 7-on-7 drills - quick, shifty and fast #nyg #giants |
| Quote: | | Coming away impressed with complete game of Rueben Randle - catching passes in traffic & separating from D.Also Hosley as nickel corner #nyg |

Some nice quotes from out coordinators on two rookies.
"I don’t know if we have had a guy as explosive, regardless of the position, here" - Gilbride on David Wilson
"I think that he can really cause some offensive linemen some problems with some of the things that he can do." - Fewell on Marvin Austin _________________
"Has courage and poise. In my opinion, most of all, he has that quality you can't define. Call it magic."
- Ernie Accorsi scouting report of Eli |
