Avus - Poppy
Artist: Avus
Song Title: Poppy
Label: Border Community
Tempo: 112 BPM
Genre: Electro House ( with nu-disco tendencies )
Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUXEmH5O-RM&noredirect=1
Release Year: 2010
Comments: Simplicity does the trick for this amazing Border Community Release, amazing grooves between the distorted bass and hi-hat roll drum pattern with disco esque violin accompaniment. . Slower than most tracks electro tracks but carries a surprising amount of energy, _________________

He's not that risky in the parts of songs that I heard and that's favorable with me. Expirimental electronic music like Crystal Castles and the similar isn't my taste. The Sub Focus Remix is more like a kind of pop song and there's a part where it's just her voice. The 3 versions of the Rusko song you mentioned were alright from what I heard, however it was Feels So Real that grabbed me as being his best song. It's kind of like a Jamiroquai melody that's without guitars. Jamiroquai had a song named Feels Good and a lyric in that song is Feels So Real. There isn't a large connection and I just thought any coincidence was somewhat interesting when making the comparison of the music as well. |
Feels so Real is the best song off that release imo. The Sub Focus Remix is indeed sorta poppy and I don't really mind it cause I like it lol. I like Rusko's new EP a lot too, it's called Songs. |

Nero - Can't Take It
Artist: Nero
Song Title: Can't Take It
Genre: Drum N Bass
Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xa_ePsA8Ka0
Release: Grenade
Release Year: 2011 (Although I've seen posts of it on Youtube going back to 2009)
Comments: Has a little bit of a drumstep (DnB mixed with Dubstep) feel as well. Like the buildup in this song. Nero is so diverse with their style, they straddle Dubstep, House and Drum N Bass. But they do it all pretty damn well. This song was one of the first DnB songs I liked. Still getting into that style but the thread needs diversity. |

I'll follow this, seems interesting. Will you guys be posting some experimental or ambient electronic music? Seems like the trend so far is more more rave or club electronica(not that I have any problem with said trend what-so-ever ). _________________

Hey sandwiche welcome to the thread
As for ambient, I consider alot of the tracks ( although to have a dance backbone ) to be much more on the ambient side, certainly slightly more avante garde than other styles, so expect a balance of all kinds of dance music in this thread _________________

Bermuda Triangle - Mooger Fooger
Artist: Bermuda Triangle
Song Title: Mooger Fooger
Label: Hooj Tunes
Tempo: 120 BPM
Genre: Progressive House
Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXV2YRCreXs
Release Year: 2003
Comments: One of my favorite dance tracks of all time, beautifully ambient with a strong but understated bass line. To me this track embodies everything that progressive dance music is, slow buildups, melodies that drift you away. Its opium for the ears, numbing and mellowing, tranquil and peaceful. _________________

Skrillex - Reptile
Artist: Skrillex
Song Title: Reptile
Genre: Brostep
Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOqdw7duKHg
Release: Single
Release Year: 2011
Comments: The song that started it all for me. This one will always have a special spot in my mind for EDM. Skrillex made this song for Reptile on the new Mortal Kombat series IIRC. It has a lot of dubstep and electro house tendencies but has a tempo of 110 bpm, whereas a lot of dubstep is 140 or around 87 and electro house hovers around 128 bpm. This is what I qualify as Brostep. The Americanized Dubstep. Watch for the syncopation and use of Mortal Kombat samples. Skrillex is going to be big in this thread, as he is my boy |

Agreed. I think I'm getting into EDM. Listened to pretty much this entire weekend |
Its an addicting type of music , what dj's have you listened to man? |
I'm not real sure I think that's one thing that holds EDM back IMO. _________________
Drive off into the sunset, you brilliant bastard.
|

I got mad love for Skrillex. Such a talented guy. Rock 'N Roll is my personal favorite. Kyoto is up there too. _________________
