Chalk this one up to one that people won't feel are worth reading.
Veterans Day, 2008 a friend of mine got into a car with his drunk girlfriend, after attending a party. She drove off the road and struck a tree. She sustained serious injuries and was in the hospital for months. My friend, he lost his life.
Two years ago today, one of my friends was driving home from having her car fixed at a mechanic with a friend of her's (who happened to be one of my childhood friends). They were struck by a drunk driver who swerved into the other lane. Her car was totaled, after having just spent several hundred dollars on repairs. Worse yet, she sustained a broken arm, and the other friend sustained several severe injuries and had to spend a couple weeks in the hospital. The drunk driver sustained no injuries.
Just a few short months later, I had another friend choose to get behind the wheel while intoxicated, and she ended up flipping her car while going around a curve too fast and was ejected from the car and died. The passenger in her car sustained minor injuries.
It was after that time, that I chose to start using this avatar.
For those who don't know, it's a blood smear ribbon, thats purpose is to raise awareness for the prevention of drunk driving. I've worn this avatar for nearly two years, as a way to remember the memory of those friends lost, and in hope that it would help someone else to remember to make the right decision, before choosing to drive under the influence. However, at this time, I'm at a point in my personal recovery from dealing with these events, that I think letting go of the situation in full is the next step in the healing process. This includes a lot of things (such as removal of old text messages, which a couple members already know I've done), and along with the purging comes time to retire my avatar. I have a feeling that it will be back eventually, but for right now, I think I need to move on past it.
I'm not really sure how to close this post, other than to say that I hope you all, even those who don't like me or aren't fond of me, heed my advice and choose to call a cab or make a better decision the next time they think about getting behind the wheel intoxicated.

i heartily agree, and also think you're being kind with the percentage, if the first 6 pages of this WAYTA are any indication. seriously, reading through this, most of it isn't any different than what 13-year old girls would write to each other on Twitter.
plus, stuff like this is vulgar, which the site has rules against:

iPwn - sorry about the tragedies to your friends. drinking and driving is just plain dumb and dangerous. _________________

vike daddy reminds me of the homeless man at the public library who scolds you for using the non-fiction section to discuss American Idol results with your friends. _________________

Just got invited to London for an interview for a new job.
Benefits include, an in-house gym and personal trainer, physio therapy session and private health insurance. Boom! _________________

I also have lost a close family friend to drunk driving, as well as 3 acquaintances from HS in one night.
Its no good. I wish there was a practical way to just stop any and all drunk driving from happening. _________________

I'd be totally fine with people having to blow into a breathalyzer to start their car like people with multiple DUIs have to do. But since that won't happen people just have to be smart and make smart, responsible decisions. _________________ Martellus Bennet highlight video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lP8fHN53t0 |

Please take this advice. Even if you think you're ok to drive, "just a little buzzed", or even if it's right down the street, don't do it. If you don't have the money for a cab, we all have friends/family that will come get us, even if it makes them a little mad. It won't be hard to make it up to them, and it could save a life, jail time, and/or thousands of dollars. _________________

As much as I love to drink, driving or driving with anyone intoxicated is always a bad idea.
