6th round pick Dan 'Boom' Herron signed a 4 year deal today, worth around $2M based on the slots around him.
As a Buckeye, presumably he'll miss some practice due to the Ohio State graduation rules lessening his chances of making the team. _________________ " I imagine that in Paul McCartneys' house, he must have a shelf with the 12+ great 'Beatles' studio albums neatly stacked. He will miss some OTAs. That's it. That alone won't keep him from making the team. _________________

Yeah he won't be making the team for other reasons. Namely because Leonard is firmly entrenched in the 3rd down back role and special teams. And because Peerman has experience with the offense.
I think Herron will make the practice squad though. _________________

Pete Johnson begs to differ....... _________________ " I imagine that in Paul McCartneys' house, he must have a shelf with the 12+ great 'Beatles' studio albums neatly stacked. At times, he must rock back in a chair, light a cigar and say to himself, '....not bad for a life's work......' " |

True, but Leonard is getting up there in years (and RBs don't last that long). Nagging injuries have been a problem for two years now.
Just sayin' Herron has a slight roster chance. _________________

Leonard is only 28 with minimal wear and tear from carries (though he takes plenty of hits through the game on ST's and blocking assignments).
He's got a chance, but discarding Leonard because of age would be premature. He's still got 2 years minimum, IMO, before the wheels fall off. _________________

Not discarding him. The magic number for RBs is 29-30 for age. he's almost there. Yes, he has less carries than a featured or even backup, but he blocks on passing downs as well as STs.
I'm saying don't discount herron just yet. _________________
