With all the lawsuits against the NFL due to concussions leading to rule changes, who here thinks that the NFL will be the known as NFFL (National Flag Football League) in 10-15 years?

There was a thread about this a week or two ago.

I think it will start with an earthquake, birds and snakes and aeroplanes.
Issac Bruce is not afraid.

As long as the NFL keeps putting in stupid rules, penalizing people, fining people, suspending people and not upgrading their equipment it shouldn't take too long.

The NFL is as popular as its ever been. What makes you think them continuing what they do is going to suddenly lead to them going under?

Oh look! More people whining about how it's becoming "flag football"!

All I'm going to say is no, it freaking isn't.

It will still be popular, it just won't be the NFL we all know and have loved for as long as we've all been watching.

More players will be fined, suspended, and then the game will most likely evolve.

The NFL is already the flag football

The suspension and fines that James Harrison had since 2 years is [inappropriate/removed] ridiculous....The QB of 5000 yards will be a tendency

I hate Goodell

Amen. Coming from a Ravens fan, James Harrison's fines are a joke. He's been playing the game the same way for the past decade and he won DPOY playing like that and all of a sudden now he's dirty Rolling Eyes

The suspensions and fines weren't ridiculous. You can insult the rules if you want, but as it stands you can't make helmet to helmet tackles on players deemed defenseless in the rulebook, which he did.

It is an interesting question.

At what point will external interest groups demand that congress (or some other governing body) take a look at the fact that retired NFL players all are passing away early due to brain damage?

If a sport is proven to lower life expectancy then it will eventual have a large number of people that will be against it. Maybe not now or in the next 5 years but it will come up as long as these retired players keep taking action against the NFL.

The fine and the penalty that Harrison had against the Bills in 2010 was a disgrace

same thing for the fine and the penalty that Ryan Clark had against the Ravens....It was embarrassing

The NFL is now too soft

Now what can be done to stop it from becoming a fully two hand touch league? upgraded equipments, teaching proper tackling, etc?

Exactly what Goodell is doing now? Implementing rules that keep players safe while also keeping the game physical. Goodell's really doing everything right as farq as this issue goes.
