| Exactly the type of guy I wanted . He should be able to return punts. And be on alot of the other specials. This is what I think the offense has needed for years. Redman only sure thing , Dwyer/ Clay/ Batch fight it out someones not making this team. Rainey will win a job because of special teams . |

I just watched a game tape video of his playes against Tenn...they were not all "highlights", but probably one of his better games by seeing what he did there. A coupld of plays jumped out at me where he actually MOVED the pile some after initial contact...he's small, but muct have some seriously strong legs. One play he, caught what looked like a screen pass and took it to the house. His acceleration is CRAZY...0-60 in 4 flat kind of acceperation and he made everyone else on Tenn defense look like they were standing still. Yes, the pro players will be faster, but he definitely has better than 4.45 speed that he posted at the combine. It was everything the Tennessee D could do to contain him as they were reaching for anything they could grab and he had a couple of face masks, so that is something to take into consideration as well...he'll probably get us at least 15 yds a game just on a face mask!!!
Anyway, not sure how he lasted to the end of the 5th. I do hope they allow him to line up in the backfield some, because he actually has some good vision and is not afraid to run inside. He did not bounce everyone outside, which is good, but when he did bounce it out, he definitely had the speed to get to the corner. I'm definitely liking this pick. Maybe not as much of a perceived "steal" as last year's 5th Rd pick, but awfully close, in my mind. _________________

| Uh... If you saw highlights from 2010, also 2011, you will see rainey and demps running inside, not great but productive bebhind pounceys and gilbert (they replaced mike with gilbert at RG) I think its an understatement to say rainey wont be our rb. He will be our rb who also offer different dimensional than any of other rb and because of that alone I see rainey making the team easily. His size is what scared nfl teams and people always have been saying to be a nfl running back, you got tobe 210 lbs, but time has changed, you can now have speed advantage over power, not comparing him to any of elite or very good rbs like jamaal charles and chris johnson but I can say this much: if you were to play man to man coverage rainey will have a good day, maybe not 100 rushing yards but just effective. I just would love to see rainey run around Ngata! But seriously, he give us antonio brown-like potential in our backfield. If he doesnt pan out, we look for other one. I can see Haley already drawing plays just for Rainey. With DeCastro, Pouncey, and Foster I think our running game just improved regardless whos in backfield. |

| You do realize that baron batch is much as unproven as Rainey is? Both hasnt played a down in real games/preseason games. I know baron batch is a fan favorite but id love to see every backs bring out their best without injuries. If baron batch can do that then great. |

I really liked this pick and i think some people are discounting him as a running back just because of his size. Yes he is small, but he will not be asked to hammer the ball up the middle 10-15 times a game. He will be used as a mis match guy and prob get a couple carries a game, whether out of the backfield or on jet sweeps and reverses.
I personally see him getting the ball out of running back position a lot more than some on here. Tough to hit what you cant see.
I also really like the idea of a package with him and redman both in the backfield. Redman has played the Full back position before and also carries the rock well. You could create quite a nice set with those two...speed and power |

2 back sets with him and Red? |
I would at least play around with it in camp to see how that works. You could have plays with Redman lined up at FB with Rainey or Batch at HB and run misdirection stuff. You could also have plays with both, but Redman back at HB with Rainey or Batch in the slot. This would allow you to motion between the formations.
This is obviously completely dependent on Rainey or Batch being worth working into the offense. I don't know what either will turn into, but a HB like that (quick, good hands, HB/slot WR tweener) could really make the defenses move around a lot. _________________

He's going to be a special teams guy, return guy, and gunner. And he'll be a gadget guy, reverses whatever.
He has more chance to be a slot WR than a real RB for us. | Yep, yep.great post _________________

Dook - I saw him the same way - change of pace & 3rd down ( depends on his pass blocking ) - work the other slot in 4 WR-5 WR formations. Return guy and gunner. He is going to contribute this year thats for sure _________________ " Roger Goodell - Ruining the game I love - 1 fine at a time " |

Sproles is strong but some training could get Rainey there too.
That being said, I agree with your assessment in general. _________________
