OK boys, time for the annual Chargers mock draft challenge 2012 edition. This is something we've been doing for years now and I thought I'd keep the tradition alive for at least another year. Here's how it works. You get a five player cluster for each pick that the Chargers have in the draft. For instance, with 18th pick your cluster may look like this (Barron, Decastro, Upshaw, Ingram, Floyd). The second round may look like this (H. Smith, Zeitler, Sanu, Curry, B. Thompson) and so on with every pick the Chargers have. Bold the player you think the Chargers will actually select with that pick.
Scoring works like this
If the Chargers select your highlighted pick in the corresponding round, using the example above, the Chargers select Upshaw with the 18 pick, you get 10 points
If the Chargers select a guy in your cluster, but not the highlighted pick, for example above say Michael Floyd at 18, then you get 8 points
If the Chargers select a highlighted guy in your cluster, but not at the pick you designated, for example say they take Harrison Smith at 18 instead of 49, then you get 6 points
If the Chargers select a guy in your cluster, but not a highlighted guy and not at the pick designated, for example Vinny Curry at 18, then you get 4 points
For fun, pertaining to the 6th and 7th round picks, if the Chargers select anybody in your cluster in the sixth or seventh rounds you get 10 points, because well, quite frankly you've done your homework and are the man. If the player is highlighted you get 15 points. The only catch in these rounds are the players have to be selected in the sixth or seventh rounds. So no putting Andre Branch in the sixth round cause you couldn't fit him into your first round cluster and get 10 points. |

I'll post mine later...
Really like Toon, and I'd love for we to get him, problem is we already have lots of receiver. _________________

Yeah I like him too.
This is Floyd's last year on his contract though and Meachem really isn't that great. I don't think it's unreasonable to spend a third on a receiver. _________________

Well fellas, another year of the mock draft challenge in the books and like most years the scoring was pretty minimal. I've given some thought about how to revise this challenge (maybe do a top 100 for Chargers prospects going 1 to 100 and giving points where you rank the player. That is if you had Brandon Taylor as the 20th ranked prospect for the Chargers, and they draft him, you get 20 points). Its just awful difficult to a) figure AJ's train of thought out and b) try to guess what players will be available at our pick in each round. that being said here's the scoring for the 2012 mock draft challenge. Thanks to everyone who filled one out by the way.
Boltsfan937 - 12
Duffman - 10 (nice pick of Molk in the late rounds)
AntonioGates - 8
Stone85 - 8
Lakeroy - 8
JammerHammer21 - 6 |
