This thread is for discussing the draft in real time. Anyone is welcome to start a seperate thread for each of the Colts individual selections, trades or other news but please keep an eye out for existing threads.

Of course it is very clear from everyone from ESPN, Jim Irsay, NFL Network etc., that the Colts are going to select Andrew Luck QB Stanford with the 1st overall pick.

Let the Grigson-Pagano-Luck era begin.

Round 1-1(1) Andrew Luck QB Stanford
Round 2-2(34) Coby Fleener TE Stanford
Round 3-1(64) Dwayne Allen TE Clemson
Round 3-29(92) T.Y. Hilton WR Florida International
Round 5-1(136) Josh Chapman DT Alabama
Round 5-35(170) Vick Ballard RB Mississippi St
Round 6-36(206) LaVon Brazill WR Ohio
Round 7-1(208) Justin Anderson NT Georgia
Round 7-7(214)Tim Fuggers DE/OLB Vanderbilt
Round 7-46(253) Chandler Harnish Northern Illinois

I am so conflicted. I HATE, DESPISE Andrew Luck (as a USC fan) but I certainly think he's the best option this year. I also can only see him becoming Matt Ryan, someone who's considered an elite QB but not exactly a top tier guy.

I don't really have any college team that I despise so I don't think I ever have to worry about that.

Browns just blew a good pick on a 28 year old QB.

Colt McCoy is younger then Weeden

I'd be ecstatic with any of those players really. I know we need defense, but we need to surround Luck with some talent first.

I think STL will take Hill and we will take Fleener. I personally want Hill because he would be perfect across from Wayne. Wayne and Hill on the outside with Collie in the slot and Avery stepping in as the fourth WR, that's a scary group to defend. Then I would look for a TE in the 3rd or trade back up into the 2nd.

The offseason has been bitter sweet. Losing the greatest Colt (Sorry Johnny U.) of all time couldn't be a sadder situation. But today was all joy. Andrew Luck is such a great football player. Not enough could be said about the skill set and the football IQ. But watching him take the podium, and his personal excitement has me really excited. So glad to see it.

As for pick 34, its getting really exciting. I think we're going to go one of two directions:

1.) Stay put, draft a skilled offensive player that fell right into your lap. Stephen Hill is at the top of my list. Randle and Fleener not far behind. Add a talented young player, to go with our exceptionally talented young QB.

or

2.) Trade down. I know everyone is saying this right now. But trade down and tool the defence. Look to add another 3rd rounder maybe, and use at least 2 of the tomorrows potential 3 picks on defence.

I think it will be one of those directions, and I think tomorrow will go a long way to show how committed we are to a defensive oriented team.

Great day guys, Colts fans everywhere should be celebrating. I know my brother (also a long time colts fans) cracked a bottle of champaign and celebrated the pick. Great day.

If we don't take Hill, or Fleener then I would definitely say that trading down and taking a CB would be just as fine.

Seen Andrew Luck on David Letterman last night (show taped before the draft and of course aired afterwards). Luck was telling Letterman about his reasoning for returing to school last year (mainly his architecture degree but also not being fully ready to grow up) and Letterman says

'Not only are you going from college football to the NFL which has a lot of pressure, and you're the no. 1 pick in the draft which has a lot more pressure but you're also replacing the greatest QB ever. Is it possible for you to return to school for one more year until this all blows over?'

Hey Guys, Congratulations on getting the consensus #1 QB in the draft and the best prospect to come around in an aeon. Hope Luck does really well (even better than Peyton honestly) and you get that team rebuilt quickly.

Grabbing Fleener is an awesome way to make that happen. Outstanding job by your F.O. in making that move to help Luck. I'm a bit surprised he fell but glad they pulled the trigger.
