Things couldn't have worked out better... so far. When the Ravens were on the clock at #29, I texted a friend saying that I would gladly take one of 5 players. Cordy Glenn, Jonathan Martin, Courtney Upshaw, Stephen Hill or Peter Konz. When the 1st round came to a close, ALL of them were (are) still available. The Ravens currently pick 3rd tomorrow night, they do not have to pay their first selection 1st round money and they picked up an additional (EARLY) 4th round pick.
I am anxious to know who the Ravens will select but I can wait knowing they added an additional pick in the first 100 selections in the process. Outstanding! |

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the trade down. It was the most logical thing to do because all the picks right now are so close together you might as well trade back a little and pick up another pick. I really like where we traded back because it isn't all that far and now we get to have a pick at the beginning and end of the second round. Tomorrow should be a good day. |

Right! The trade also provides the Ravens with ammunition to either move up in the 2nd or 3rd OR to trade a pick for a player (to possibly bring in a veteran WR or Offensive Lineman. The think the Ravens are pretty close to the cap so trading for a player may be "out" at this point. Here's what else I have. Best available with overall rankings to the left. I'm looking forward to tomorrow night!

I agree with RavensFanRD, I think with DeCastro and a couple of other guys getting taken, going out of the first round makes a lot of sense for us.
I think tomorrow the Ravens are going to win the draft just in the second round.
The one thing I hated about today was the Steelers taking Decastro, though. I hate seeing them improve their offensive line

Don't really either of the Patriots picks actually.
I'm not really a fan of Jones on tape. Guy is not overly athletic and relies mostly on hustle. I think he's going to have a very tough time against better tackles. There is not much about his game that really intrigues me.
With Hightower I just don't get the fit. To me he's the same sort of player than Brandon Spikes is, so unless you're dumping Spikes to OLB or something I'm not really sure how they fit in.
Hightower is a pretty good player, but he's not overly fast or good in coverage. I agree with the notion that he's a two-down player with the chance to pass-rush on 3rd, but I wouldn't drop him into coverage. |

Chandler Jones is a beast. No if's, and's or but's about it. _________________

My sentiments exactly. I'm glad Ozzie is our GM though. He showed the patience few others would. DeCastro helps them out immediately. I can't believe he fell into their laps. But the same appears to be happening for us. In order of preference, I would like to see the Ravens draft Upshaw, Martin, Konz, Hill, or Glenn (who my heart tells me is dropping a bit).
As far as Mr. All in Good Fun, the Patriots lost the Super Bowl. AGAIN. To Eli Manning... AGAIN. The only reason you got there is because a lifelong Buffalo Bill doesn't know how to wrap up the football. You didn't beat us, Dumba*s. You backed in. And the result was another lost Super Bowl. How 'bout them G-Men?!?

I'd rather, and I know I'm not alone on this, have Glenn, Hill, or Upshaw over Hightower.
I'm glad the Pats took him. I would've been cool with it but not ecstatic like I am with the three guys still on the board I mentioned. The thing about Hightower is, he would've been a suitable replacement for JJ. _________________

IMO, Upshaw is better suited to step in for JJ than Hightower. And he would from Day 1. The first thing I looked at last night after the draft concluded was, "How far can the Ravens trade up in the 2nd with pick 98?" According to the now worthless draft pick value chart, they could move up 11 spots from 60 to 49. That would put the Ravens in a place where they could draft two VERY dangerous players in the first round. Especially, if teams continue to draft the Bruce Irvin's of the world 2 rounds too soon. My only hope is that Ozzie drafts one of the players we have mentioned herein and doesn't take someone that doesn't fill a need (like Jerel Worthy or Coby Fleener). I doubt that will happen. And I DEFINITELY hope that we stay away from Mike Adams with this next pick. The Ravens need someone with more character and integrity than Adams. |

Glad to see this trade appears to have worked out for both sides. We needed the safety help bad and Harrison Smith is a perfect fit for the vikings cover 2 scheme. Whose someone you guys are targeting at 35?
Good Luck for the Rest of the Draft and in the upcoming season |

On the subject of trades. Two things wouldn't surprise me at #35:
1. I could definitely see us trading down AGAIN. If the Rams and Colts make their selection and all 3 of Glenn, Hill, and Upshaw are all on the board... it would certainly make sense to trade back and pick up and extra 4th or 5th round selection from a team possibly looking to leap frog someone to draft a Devon Still, Coby Fleener (assuming Colts don't take him), Jerel Worthy, Trumaine Johnson, Janoris Jenkins, or whoever falls.
2. It also wouldn't surprise me if the Ravens decided to be aggressive and traded up in round 2 from their late 2nd for Stephen Hill if they love him enough. It would be tough to pass up on Kendricks if he falls though. _________________

As a fan of both teams I get a unique vantage point on this trade. I can say I absolutely love it for both teams. Vikings gets the type of safety every cover two team needs and didnt pay all that much really.
the Ravens get a very high second rounder along with ammunition to trade up higher in the second to select another red chip prospect.
I really have my hopes on us getting both Cordy Glenn and Upshaw/WR |

I think the obvious targets would be Cordy Glenn and Stephen Hill if they fall.
I think the plan all along was to take Stephen Hill... but with the development of Glenn falling, it's presented us with an interesting situation.
I think we must view Glenn and Hill quite closely and figured a trade down would give us the value we viewed to be the difference in the two prospects... yet Glenn fell again (while we figured Hill would fall).
If both guys are on the board, I honestly wouldn't mind moving down 2-3 spots and pick up even more value and see if a team makes our decision easy for us by taking either guy. _________________
