Quote: | Vikings have agreed to terms on a one year deal with WR Jerome Simpson. Even tho he's suspended to start the season he's got a lot of talent |
http://twitter.com/JayGlazer/statuses/194829365358493697
It was announced today that Simpson has been suspended for 3 games by the NFL but it didn't stop the Vikings from gambling on the talented WR who also has legal troubles too as he was sentenced to 15 days in jail and three months' probation for a felony drug count of "prohibited act relating to a controlled substance."
Simpson recorded 50 catches for 725 yards and 4 TDs last season.

ok with me. I'd rather have some other guys they passed on, that have more than 1 decent season, but this is better than the special teamers they have been signing.....
talent yes, production, not as much.
Now I would 100% not go WR in round 1 or 2..... _________________ Wins are a team stat, not a QB stat |

Sweet. Low risk signing. If it works out, GREAT! If not, its just a 1-year deal. |

This isn't a bad signing but it reminds me of the michael Jenkins signing. The guy is not a number one. So all this really does is tells us to not draft a second receiver later in the draft. IMO we need to still take one in the second because Simpson is out 3 games and we gotta give ponder some weapons _________________

I personally don't think they would have gone WR in the first 2 rounds anyway, unless Stephen Hill is there in Rd 2 (which isn't likely). With WRs and CBs being so deep in this draft, I see them waiting on both positions (which you can tell from my mock) until at least the 3rd rd, as they can still get good players there.
I'm okay with taking the chance on Simpson. He fits the type of player they are looking for (young with potential), now if he can just stay out of trouble after this suspension.
As for a blast from the past, he was Tyler Thigpen's WR at Coastal Carolina. _________________

I love it. It is a low risk, high reward signing. We are still definitely drafting a receiver early in the draft, but instead of drafting a second WR, we can now use that pick on a different need. Perfect! |

If Alshon Jeffery is there @ #35, they absolutely take him. Regardless of this signing. _________________
