At this point I would argue our defense is more suited for a 34 base _________________

Sorry, I was caught up with the fam. Priorities.
I wouldn't have taken Guyton, Geathers will easily be better than him this year.
Guys I would have considered:
Tom Compton, OT, South Dakota
Audie Cole, MLB, NC State
Janzen Jackson, FS, McNeese State
Darius Fleming, LB, Notre Dame _________________

Working on making a 34 defense for shoots and giggles. What to do with Peko and Thompson? I actually feel Peko would be best at 5-Tech, unless we ran a Dallas-style 34, in which he'd be best at NT.
Thompson, I'm not so sure. Sims is the obvious backup NT to whoever starts there, but I feel Thompson could play both DE and NT in a 34. Lots of versatility. _________________

Is Zimmer fired then? Cuz that's the only way that makes sense.
For an occasional 3-4 look, Peko would play NT. The couple of elephant ends the team has would play the 5-Tech. _________________

Why would Zimmer not run 34 looks if we have the players to make very succesful looks there? _________________

We both posted a pass rusher was the best option. If not Law, we should've picked someone more similar skillset to Law per 2-1 poster agreement. plus it's the 5th round. we could've skipped our pick until at least someone could've weighed in |
We were on the clock from 8-9 PM. You posted at 8, then departed. Duke wasn't around either to say who he wanted. He posted his list 2 hours after we went on the clock. Other posters have indicated in the past they want to replace Geathers so that's not really the question. The question is who to take with our draft pick. I checked 3 widely available draft sites, CBS Sportsline, Great Blue North, and National Football Post and Guyton was the best DE left in their ratings. Cordarro Law was only rated by 1 of those sites, who had him as a UDFA and the others only went 50 players deep at DE so they didn't have him rated as either a DE or LB. If it makes you happy we can take Coryell Judie with our 6th round pick if he's available, which he still is at the moment. |

If Law makes it out of the 5th round IRL, I'd be shocked. He and Massaquoi are my two most underrated lineman and both, in the right system, will be surprise late round picks. Oh well. I don't really care about Coryell. He probably won't be around anyway and I'd rather keep Ghee as a 5th CB and back-up FS. Allows us to keep Barron, Mays, Sands and Myles.
For our next pick we could go about anywhere. QB to knock Robinson off the PS, because he's going nowhere in the NFL. CFL QB at best. Could go FB to compete with Pressely. If Terrance Ganaway is still available he'd be my #1 choice. RB in college, seems like a more larger, physical Leonard who can actually contribute at FB especially in a WCO. We could take a project TE, G, or C. On defense we could target a LB. Not really worried who at this point. The only late round prospects I would've targeted will be gone. _________________

Who? Unless he's being replaced with an early pick it's absolutely pointless. i don't know how to get that point across to you. Contract year. Only four million dollars. He's not going anywhere, until probably now since we have Guyton and it's stupid to waste a 5th round pick on him if he won't make our roster. _________________

What? Robert Geathers is one of the worst pass rushers in the NFL. There is zero reason he should get any snaps at any price. Any random guy off the street can be as productive as him for much cheaper.
It's like saying Nate Livings or Eric Ghiaciuc is in a contract year so we shouldn't dump them. We should dump them because they are hot garbage... _________________

Was going to stay out of this one, but I do disagree with this part. offensive linemen don't get better in contract years, but "stat" positions do quite a bit. I wouldn't be shocked if Geathers ends up with 5 or 6 sacks this year, as he will be auditioning for his next contract. Kinda worked out for Rucker and fanene, didn't it? _________________

Rucker just had to stay healthy and Fanene was up and down like he always was. Fanene's pass rushing efficiency was pretty bad as well. I don't see how Fanene was better last year then he was in 2009 before he got hurt?
Geathers was on the decline and then had micro-fracture surgery. Since then he hasn't done jack... _________________

Would you guys be interested in Alphonso Smith for your 6th rounder? He's a good slot corner but the way the draft fell we happened to get a better rookie and a lack of WR depth so WRs could be of some interest as well. PM Tyler2015 if interested! _________________ Kate Upton for sexy President!!!
