In my mock draft that I'm currently working on, I had you guys taking Kirkpatrick with the 17th pick... is that a no-go after this signing?

Thanks for the help, fellas.

Even before this signing, I would've guessed no. I think we're more likely to take Barron, OL or DL before anything. Or maybe Kuelchy if he falls. But I think we only take Kirkpatrick if somehow DeCastro, Kuelchy, Barron, Ingram, and Coples were all gone. Which is actually a good possibility.

I'd expect Newman was signed cheaply. We know Pacman was. So I could see the team carrying Hall, Clements, Allen Jones, Newman as the group if Leon is healthy. If he's not then Ghee or a rookie could make it. If the young player looks especially impressive in camp, then Jones or Newman are expendable.

What about Ghee at FS? I thought he may have a shot there, especially since we're awfully thin there. I just don't see us carrying six CBs as you implied.

I honestly think Jones is the first to go. The biggest trouble-maker, and the one you LEAST want around your rookies. Having guys like Hall, Clements, Allen and Newman would be excellent in helping develop a 3rd or 4th round pick.

This has to mean one of two things... either the Bengals aren't going to go with a corner in the 1st or they don't expect to have Hall back for next season.

Either way, I don't like it. This is a move I was hoping we wouldn't make.

Why don't you like it? Worst case scenario, he's cut in TC. Best case scenario he knocks Jones off the roster and is a solid veteran presence in our DB this year.

I think this means they'll end up overlooking CB in the draft. Hope I'm wrong.

I've heard from people who know those in the know that Ghee HAS been looked at as a Free Safety this upcoming year.

I also think this would light a bigger fire under him for training camp.

PacMan may be staying on the roster as the 4th or 5th CB but the starting returner.

Newman HAs to show something to make the team. he won't make it on name alone, especially after last year. Funny, I wanted him more than Palmer that year. Sadly, we get him way too late.

Eh, i'll be kind of surprised if he makes the team unless we don't draft any corners.

You guys sure like to dig through the cowboys dumpster dont you? haha just kidding...actually im one of the few cowboys fans that still support newman....in a limited role. He cant be your number one guy...i dont know about number two, but there is a spot on your team for him for sure...he is getting older and injury prone however.

Most cowboys fans will disagree, but good signing...assuming it was cheap and a large role isnt expected from him.

Funny, we could say the same about Nate Livings but we didn't give Newman a multi-year multi-million deal. In fact it wouldn't be surprising at all if Newman doesn't make the team.
