CB at 35. If none warrant the pick, draft the best available WR at 35.
WR at 67. Or CB if a WR was drafted at 35.
My preference for a CB over a WR at 35 is based on the fact that the Vikings will be using 2TE sets fairly often, and have two good TEs, as well as a few good WRs. They have some CBs, with Cook being good, but the rest being untested and uncertain. |
This looks good to me. |

I'd rather have a S than a CB in the 2nd.
Cook/Winfield/Allen/Carr/Bowman/Burton is much better than Sanford/Raymond/Frampton.
Harrison Smith is my ideal pick at 35. _________________

From what i've read the Safety class this year isn't all that. For that reason i'd rather we go BPA in the 2nd, someone with legit 1st round talent will drop, i suggest we take them. We have no depth anywhere, so get the best player we can rather than aim to fill a position of need.
If our Safeties suck again next year, so be it, so long as whoever we get in the 2nd is a starter for this team. |

That is, how in the world would Smith not be the starter? Reyes isn't going to beat out any vikings on the d-line to start. He's just good enough to barely not make the play. Worthy's lazy. we have a team full of second & 3rd round cb talent. Smith is likely the vikings BPA at pick 35 if he is there. That said, i am sure whatever the vikings select where ever they do, we'll be assured we have gotten the BPA by Mr. Spielman. _________________ Remember when the Vikings passed on Dan Marino because we had Tommy Kramer? ahhh, good times.

Draft like Jimmie Johnson=bad (2 QB's)
Draft like Jerry Jones=good (take an OT top10) |

I'm sure Smith would be the starter, but that would probably say more about our current Safety depth than his ability. If he's the BPA, then fine. I imagine there's a good chance there is better value at our pick though.
I'm just not keen on going hard after a player that early because we're weak at that position. We won 3 games last year, we should take the most talented player we can find. |

| If Smith is off the board at 35, id hold off on safety in rd 2. Iloka could be there at 66, or Brandon Taylor in early rd 4. I do agree, the safety class is terrible this year, but there are a few guys i like for this team (Smith, Taylor and Iloka). |

I definitely wouldn't touch any of the safeties other than Barron/Smith until the 4th/5th round.
I have a feeling a really good player is going to fall out of the 1st andmake the #35 question very easy for us. Maybe one of the DT's (Still, Brockers, Worthy) or a WR (Jeffery, Wright, Randle). _________________

Given the Vikes desire to trade pick 3 and gain more picks, I very well could see the Vikes shopping pick 35 as a more likely option. There should be some first round talent that falls, and could be good trade value to take advantage of. I love the potential of talent at pick 35 though, makes me wish MN could trade out of pick 3 and get another pick in the top 40, but that doesnt seem likely. |

Round 1 Morris Claiborne
Round 2 Mike Adams/WR
Round 3 OT/WR
Round 1 Matt Kalil
Round 2 Janoris Jenkins/WR
Round 3 CB/WR
Im against trading down to miss one of these 2 major prospects |

For the future? Why couldn't they start right away?
I'm holding out hope we can manage 2 2nd rounders by trading back a little with our 1st. If that is the case though, I'd still like to go Safety and Cornerback.
Harrison Smith and Josh Robinson would do well there. Allthough, It'd be hard to pass up on a big name DT. I loved what we had on our Dline just a few years ago, but at the same time, we have more depth there than we do at CB/S, which would be my reasoning.
I think in the 4th round would be a great time to start looking at Dline again. _________________

Haha, we do tend to pick DL pretty well in the 4th round. |

Honestly, the DT talent in round 2 is not much different than in round 4 (once guys like Reyes and Still, those fringe first rd pick players).
I also like Mike Martin quite a bit at 66, to open pick 35 for something else. Kind of reminds me of a Brandon Mebane type, very short and squat, but Martin has very good athleticism going by his combine performance. |

For me there are 3 CB I take "early"
Claiborne (#3-7)
Kirkpatrick (amazing trade back and take him ~20)
Jenkins - #35
Other then these, I would not address CB till top the 4th round, as the prospect pool in the 4th-10th CBs are very similar. _________________
