Anyone think we'll throw in a 3-4 look every now and then just to give a different look? I thought I remembered Zimmer mentioning this a while back, but i'm not sure. Obviously the 4-3 is our base, but could we see something like this 4 to 6 times a game to mix it up?:
LDE: Jamaal Anderson, Amobi Okoye?
NDT: Pat Sims, Domata Peko
RDE: Geno Atkins, Carlos Dunlap
LOLB: Michael Johnson, Dontay Moch
LILB: Rey Maualuga, Roderick Muckelory
RILB: Keith Rivers, Thomas Howard
ROLB: Manny Lawson, Robert Geathers _________________

Whatever formation puts the best 11 defenders on the field to match the down and distance probability works for me. _________________

Would love to see Dontay Moch line up as an OLB in a 3-4 set and crush some QB's... _________________

yeah I think we see a lot more of Moch outside this year. I also think Peko stays at starting NT in 34 sets _________________

Whether in a 4-3 or 3-4 set, I'd like to see Sims start over Peko this year. Assuming that Sims shows up in shape, motivated and healthy to camp.
Just haven't been impressed with Peko at all the past couple of seasons. The majority of the times he's involved in plays it's when he's jumping into a pile late... _________________

QFT. Peko is really overated.
I would love to see some 3-4 looks several times a game. We have some great athletes on defense to make it happen. |

I would not mind seeing it. Our depth is at LB and potential OLB's. We would need to work on some D line if we made a true change over. But I would not mind seeing some looks thats for sure. Our OLB's could be scary good.
Zim is smart enough to devise some plays to confuse some people. I dont see why we dont _________________

We've talked about this before.
I think we all agree that you need multi-skilled guys to run the 3-4 option from a base 4-3, and Zim already runs those options occasionally.
Adalius Thomas was probably the best 'joker' in recent years in B'more, a big guy that can stop the run, block guards up front, rush the passer good, and also dang near play safety in coverage.
Some of that NY Giant front four are probably that good right now, and they lined up on some plays with 5 DE's on the field.
Michael Johnson is probably the closest guy we got to that 'joker' role right now. With Dunlaps' continued progress along with the exit of Fanene and Rucker, I see Geathers playing more UT; and if Moch has retained his speed post-injury @ SLB, that will give Zimmer more 'tricks in his box' to pull. _________________ " I imagine that in Paul McCartneys' house, he must have a shelf with the 12+ great 'Beatles' studio albums neatly stacked. I don't see Geathers ever lining up at UT..maybe I've missed something in the past, but the only DEs we currently have I can see lining up there are Dunlap and Anderson. _________________
