What is interesting is that Nick just slapped you with some knowledge based purely on football and you chose only to respond to BP. Wonder why that was.
With our interior pass rush + Shaughnessy returning our pass rush should be ok. I also expect Houston to get out of his sophmore slump this year as well.

It's hard to take you seriously when that happens plus half your football posts here are exaggerated and wrong.

I didn't see Nick's post. I'll respond to that now for you -
You throwing out stats from 2010 is completely pointless. That was 2 years ago. Do you know how much changes is 2 seasons...? A lot in case you haven't noticed by now. Last year you slipped from 2nd to 15th. So just because you were good 2 years ago doesn't mean a thing.
Your only chance for a decent pass rush comes from your DT's. Who combined for 13.5 sacks last season. Outside of that, you literally have nothing that opposing offenses will be worried about. Your HOPING Matt Shaughnessy will come off a season ending injury to provide a major pass rush, when in reality the highest total he's ever had in his career in 7... He will quickly be double teamed outside since he is your only form of a pass rusher. Let's see how good he is then.
Did i mention you lost Kam Wimbley for nothing...? Who while inconsistent was an above average pass rusher, that provided 16 sacks for Oakland over the past 2 seasons. Including leading your team with 9 in 2010 when you guys were 2nd in sacks.
Also, your also hoping Ron Bartell can return to 2010 form, and Shawntae Spencer is average (at best.) Plus behind them your depth at CB is a disgrace. If either of them end up getting hurt (which is in they're history) then your team is screwed.
Of course i'm sure none of these points are valid since i'm a fan of a rival team. But it's realism. I have said tons of times that your offense could be lethal if everyone stays healthy, but your defense looks scary if im a Raiders fan.
Is that okay?

Houston was solid in run defense. I doubt he'll ever be much of a pass rusher. Also think he'd need to beef up to play inside.
As Nick pointed out, the Raiders have been able to generate pass rush the last couple years. the interesting thing is, it's typically w/ a 4 man rush. We've seen more blitzing recently, but the front 4 pressure has taken over games at times. But it's inconsistent.
Wimbley's production will be replicated IMO. Might be between 2 situational pass rushers, but I'm not worried.

I just have to laugh my self stupid with that comment. You post Manning's 2010 stats every other minute when some talks about him losing a step. Now he's 36 and has had 4 neck procedures. WOW dude... practice what you preach.
Absolutely priceless. I've heard about Manning 4700 yards and 33 TDs in 2010 countless times from you to the point I have it memorized. PRICELESS.

I'm not one to nit pick, but that made me chuckle.
I appreciate you responding to my post. A lot of your points are based off of assumptions though, or thoughts on our assumptions. The downsides you point out could very well be true, we'll just have to wait to see how we play. But we're expectant fans, so most of us are going to be optimistic about the moves and talent we have. But it's not blind faith anymore, we've got legitimate reasons to expect good things now. My main point was simply that our pass rush isn't as horrific as you made it out to be. It's actually been pretty middle of the road. And we've got reasons to be hopeful - Such as Seymour and Kelly pairing up so well, and we are getting a good pass rusher back in Shaughnessy.
The 2010 analogy was just a point of interest. These same guys played great that year, showing me that they do have it in them. I find it interesting that this was also the year we had a competent DC. So we can certainly see that as something to look forward to this year now that we have a defensive minded coach who is pretty smart in what he does.
